Try using different brands of shampoo and conditioner. That way the bottles are different colours. I tell DH he can't use my expensive shampoo by telling him he can't use the (insert colour here) bottle

I have the same frustration with medicine bottles, especially for children's medicine. The dosage information is very very small and then to make it even more difficult to read they print it in red! At 2 a.m with a sick child there shouldn't be a challenge to read important info like that - and I don't wear glasses.

ALL great ideas and solutions, but why on earth should we have to resort to such tactics?!!
I'm boycotting the ones that don't absolutely distinguish between their shampoos and conditioner.
AND have emailed Pantent for that very reason.
I agree: I love Tresseme, MizMeg just for that reason: cheap AND distinguishable between the S and the C!

I don't really have this problem, I still have good eyes and the conditioner-opens-at-the-bottom rule have always made it simple for me.
I got JF products now though, and they're squeeze tubes, so everything is on the bottom! I just have to look more carefully since the bottles are identical.
Have you considered one of those on-the-wall shower organizers? They keep bottles out of your shower entirely!

2 in 1 works for me. I would like to have all in one bottle: body wash, shampoo and conditioner. This way I will just grab the bottle and use it.

I so hear you Lynn, these days I'm finding that it's not only in the shower. Have you ever tried reading the instructions on the uncle ben's jasmine rice, even with glasses on, (the small blue plastic bag), the bag is blue, the printing is blue...omg. It was so bad I even sent them an email about it. They email me back and said they agreed, soooo change it! I've since learned their directions don't work anyways, rice is to soggy
however, the first time I tried it I wanted to throw the bag across the room, then I realized I'd be the one to have to clean it up

eeegawd I couldnt imagine not using conditioner.. my hair is so thick, if I tried to get a brush thru it with just shampooing, it would hurt so much, and would take forever!!
But i agree shampoo always has the top lid and conditioner the bottom.. i've never had an issue?

I don't really have this problem at the moment, but I do know what you mean!
We use Head & Shoulders Shampoo and Herbal Essences conditioner, at the moment (we are a buy what's on sale kind of family), and last batch was Tresemme, so very easily distinguishable with dark and light bottles.
Still, you make a valid point, and it doesn't hurt to ask why they do it that way and make a suggestion.

Here's the way I remember:
Shampoo lifts the dirt and oil, so the lid is pointing up... Conditioner weighs hair down again, so the lid is pointing down.
