Yeah, I do it....always! I check out the rack of " questionable " produce that stores mark down for quick sale. Some stores are crazy! ( NF, for example....I have seen a puss like liquid oozing out of that lettuce, toss it already!) Not just one NF is like that the 2 I visit do it a lot! I walk-on-by those racks.
However, Food Basics was on my way back from dropping the passengers this a.m. and DH needed Advil, so ok, that is what I went in to buy, but walked by the rack and could not resist!
I got:
pack of 8 Bartlet pears $1.00
pack of 2 honey dew melons $2.50
pack of 2 large purple eggplants $2.00 ( they are already baked up I could not wait!)
pack of 4 lemons/6 limes mixed $2.00
then the sticker reduced stuff with at least 3 days left on BB date!!
2 x 11 oz tubs of Baby Spinach and 1 x Spring Mix Salad reg $3.97 minus 3 x $2.00 off ea
4 x 6 oz raspberries @ $3.97 minus 4 x $2.00 off ea
Then the nice sales this week of blackberries 2 x $1.97 ea
blueberries 2 x $1.88 ea
acorn squash @ $1.27 a lb. ( baked alongside eggplant, so sweet put nothing onto it either)
green beans @ .97 a lb.
I also found a wonderful reduced salt version of Tomato Paste by Selection, came in garlic and herb variations @ .49 each was not the price that got me but the sodium was so low!! Only 20 mg per 2 tblsp...so a whole can with water added to make it into sauce would still be only about 100 mg total!
Oh, as you may have guessed DH did NOT get his Advil. They did not have it??
There is always tomorrow right?

Good for you! I like to check the produce rack out our Superstore it sometimes has good things on it.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

coupon girl, I have had hot and cold luck with Metro, like sometimes even their reduced stuff can be a higher price than what I would pay for it firmer and fresher somewhere else. The odd time I luck out though.

You're making my mouth water with all those fresh goodies! I also always check the reduced produce and (in weaker moments) the bakery "day-olds".
