New research shows that bacon, sausage and cold cuts increase risk of death from cancer and heart disease. One in 30 deaths in Europe per year! The processing of the not so nice meats and animal parts is also unhealthy. However, if old style preparation of real meat was done instead (smoking, drying, salting and pickling) the deaths could be much less. So, a coupon to get free bacon may not look so enticing anymore.

No surprize - studies have come to this conclusion for decades.
A good reminder for everyone, though.

mmmm, bacon.
as you can see, bacon is the meat of life.
I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

Interesting article, but all they provide is an unqualified opinion. There's not one shread of evidence that proves what they're saying.
Case in point: "They're believed responsible for about 3% of deaths in the UE, but the worse news is that they're also major risk factors for serious medical conditions". Which part of this statement says: based on study such and such, the results were blah, blah, blah?
At best they found a correlation, but they don't really know if it's a cause.

I'm just wondering why so much money is wasted in doing these studies that everyone already knows the answers to???? Here's a thought, why not take all that money, and use it on finding ways to make bacon, sausage, salami and the likes the old way, the way it was done many many moons ago, when we didn't have all these so called food chemicals!!!! It may be more labor intensive, and have a much shorter shelf life, but..... with all the money they would be saving from doing these crazy studies, it wouldn't matter. AND, those of us that care about our health would purchase the items every once in a while, hmmmm, wonder if they ever thought of that???
We all need a little sunshine every now and then
