Thread: Once Upon a child

Took 2 huge diaper boxes of outgrown stuff to once upon a child today, 85% percent of it was baby clothes from Carters, Old Navy, Gap, Gymboree(everything had been bought brand new, and only worn since September) the other 15% was WalMart and Joe Fresh which was mostly from my eldest.
Well despite the big signs that say "we want quality brand name children`s clothing" all they took was the WalMart stuff and a few pieces from Joe Fresh. Since when is Walmart clothing brand name or high quality?
GRRR....I should learned after last time I went and the girl dropped my bouncy seat on floor on to wet mat and stained it, not to take my stuff there.

I stopped taking my stuff there after calling to make sure they were buying, dragging in 2 huge garbage bags of brand name items from Gap, Osh Kosh, Roots, and other higher end clothes to have them tell me I'm 3rd in line to have my items gone through (ok fine, I'll wait the 30 minutes) to go through everything and take 2 or 3 items. All of it was sizes 3-8 so not the teeny tiny stuff or the big kid stuff that they say is hard to sell. So not worth my time. Now I find a friend who has a child a bit younger than mine and just pass it on, what they don't want they can pass on to someone else. Just isn't worth my time and gas for them to buy $10 worth of stuff. Toys I would NEVER take there, they offer so little for high end toys. $100 playmobile set was offered I think $10 because they would only sell it for $20-25. Kijiji, ebay, friends are where things go now.

they have to pick and choose based on current inventory. regardless of brand name... if they have too many pairs of jeans, you could bring in armani baby jeans and they wouldn't take them. they have to make sure they don't over fill individual categories or risk stock sitting forever and ever. i had this problem with platos closet once and the girl was nice enough to explain to me what items i should just leave at home.

I haven't been there in ages but funny enough I brought some Lucky Brand, Abercrombie, and Billabong boys size 16-18 clothing in yesterday and I came home with 98.00. I was shocked because I didn't think they would want this size.Go Figure. Maybe this should be in the rants section though?

I know if they have too much of something regardless of brand they won't take it and I'm not complaining about that. Everything I brought in was the same(hoodies, pants, leggings, tops) just different brands so I'm just surprised they picked Walmart over anything else.

I think I'll sell my kids' outgrown clothing at a garage sale and then just donate the rest! Getting $1 each for most things would be fine.

I have tried selling clothes at Once Upon a Child but I have found it to frustrating to bother anymore. The last time I took in clothes they told me that they were to outdated.I don't see how they were bought brand new and my daughter had just outgrown them, half she didn't even get to wear lol.

Yes I find OUAC is too picky nowadays! I have been turned down saying items were probably a pair(ie/shorts that are mix and match at Walmart like Disney Cars)and I only had shorts. I dislike the fact that I am usually getting paid around $1 for something new with tag. I find there clothes aren't in very good condition(ie/faded, hairy-from previous owners pets likely), extreme pilling from wash wear etc. The exact reason why they had turned some of my items down.
Usually I sell on a Mom to Mom FB page and I like it way better than Kijiji. Sometimes it's a hassle getting people to pick up their items but a really positive experience for me for the most part. Sometimes I donate(I will be taking to H&M soon)or give to a friends sister.Want to keep fit while earning incentives like Scene Points? Join Carrot Rewards using my personal code: rosaw3424

I brought in a bicycle trailer to them that cost me about $400.
They did not want it because they said it was too good and they would not be able to sell it.Love like crazy everyday and smile.

I do both a Mom to Mom fb page and use Once Upon a Child. My OUAC is really good. Sometimes it depends on the person you get too. I take the same stuff plus new stuff in my bins every time and somehow, the stuff they passed on before gets taken, lol. It is frustrating sometimes because looking through what they have on their racks is in worse condition than what I brought in. They do need some work on consistency.
If it doesn't sell on my page, it goes to OUAC, if it doesn't sell there after a few times, I donate it.
