It should be noted that the Temporary Foreign Workers Program was enacted in the 1960's to bring in temporary workers in the agricultural business that couldn't fill their positions. It's changed over the years, particularly since 2005 and to bring workers in for a bank and fire 45 employees to put those FTW's in their spots? Anyone who can't see something wrong with that really needs to get their eyes checked.
MortgageQueen I just loved the excuse "well we asked them to make sure it was all legal" lol to say that means you have an idea that it isn'tLast edited by TaraF; Mon, Apr 8th, 2013 at 11:52 PM.

So let's just increase Canada's unemployment rate even more when we are still struggling to recover and pull out of a recession...Yeah swift move Government of Canada! Let's have more unemployed skilled Canadian workers who will be unable to find another job because they will be "overqualified" for everything they apply to, but they will be forced to get off unemployment (due to those new rules that want everyone out there flipping burgers instead of claiming unemployment) instead of waiting and looking for a job in their field that pays a decent living wage.

heard that it is 165,000 jobs that have been replaced by outsourcing.
(besides the other ones we know - as in call any company and who answers?)
if only the people emigrating here that were doctors, engineers, heck polictians
could be able to use those skills here - and not have to drive a cab.

I was also appalled by the story the minute I heard about it, just could not believe the guy on the tv ( the whisleblower ) that said he was one of the ones that was let go and has no way to pay his bills. He looked about 40-50 years old in IT, so who will hire that fellow now?

roseofblack funny you should mention all those people who will be flipping burgers: McDonalds Canada is hiring 6000 people nationwide on Thursday on National Hiring Day. **Please note I'm not belittling the job just making a point
We (Canada) just lost 85,000 jobs in March. People have a right to be angry, nay, a DUTY to be angry and if you're not than I just don't understand it. Our livelihoods as Canadians is being sold, excuse me "outsourced" to the lowest bidder and it's all being backed and approved by the Government.
** Btw I didn't make this a political issue the Government did by approving it. And even if it wasn't a political issue people should be on the Government to stop this type of practice. Before it's too late.Last edited by TaraF; Tue, Apr 9th, 2013 at 08:25 AM.

Not as many as that Tara, but still lots
Canada shed 54,500 positions in March overall; other numbers vary according to the sector, some are higher, some lower - Stats Canada

Good news, though - The average hourly wage of permanent employees was 2.1 percent higher in March 2013 than in March 2012.
Still, we're still ahead of MANY countries since the global recession.

Oops...I started a thread today on the same topic.......
I, for one, will be cutting up my RBC SDM Mastercard and sending it, along with a letter to RBC opposing their business practices.
I keep my money in my local credit union...I will not support the BIG BANKS!!
RBC said they are outsourcing for cost savings and efficiency.
Ummmm....excuse me! RBC saw a record $7.5-billion profit for the fiscal year that ended last October!!!!!!

I always thought that outsourcing is hiring people from abroad, people who will work remotely for less money. Isn't it outsourcing? My company orders web products from Ukrainian developers, but nobody ever thought to bring these guys to Canada huh. Seems like RBC just wants to save money hiring illergal workers, ain't they?
