Thread: UPS Frustrations

My Mom is a scentsy consultant, and we were supposed to receive an order yesterday. They ship via UPS.
Yesterday I saw on the tracking it was out for delivery, and the guy wasn't here at his usual time so I checked online on the tracking and it said it failed to deliver that we didn't answer the door.
WE WERE AT HOME THE ENTIRE TIME.
So we called and they apologized and said it'd go out today. This morning I check the tracking and it says that the apartment # is wrong on the package and it was failed AGAIN.
We get DOZENS of packages a month and this is the first time they've messed it up. Our driver knows me us name, so if the package had the wrong address he'd know it's hers. BUT we checked in on it and the address is in fact right. Not to mention the big white and purple boxes - not everyone gets them!
So my Mom called and they said it'd be sent out today and wanted to re-enter the address. Ok .
2:30 comes and he's still not here. Great, one item in there was a gift for my teacher and she's going to be here at 3.
3 comes and goes,
4 comes, and she leaves. It's STILL not here. So I check online and it said that it was a failed attempt again.
REALLY?!?!?!?!?
This time I call. They recite the address for me, well no wonder it was failed. I live at 47, it was delivered to 49. There is no such thing as 49. So the doorknob my Mom talked to entered it in wrong.
I tell her 49 is impossible and that I wanted my package TONIGHT. We're leaving at 7 am tomorrow and we need it tonight. Actually we needed it yesterday so I could get the teacher her gift today. I told her all this and the girl really sounded apologetic and said she'd get them to re-deliver tonight and the driver would call me if anything goes wrong.
Not getting my hopes up but lets see if this actually happens.
OH! I asked for the office # to the driver. To report him really, because he's not the most intelligent for not knocking on the door the first time, and blah. She REFUSED to give me the number. My dad used to work at that office and we know they have to let us complain, but she wouldn't.

They just called back. Said they MIGHT be able to get it to us today if not tomorrow. I told them we couldn't tomorrow as were leaving at 7 am. She was SO rude. Pretty much said 'it's not our fault the address is wrong'
If we dont get it tonight they'll have to keep it and attempt to send it monday. REALLYYY?!

I feel for you *hug* The same thing happened to me yesterday (tuesday) I was sitting at work (basement suite of my bosses house). They have 3 dogs. I go to leave at the end of the day and low and behold there's the dreaded sticky note on the door! I'm livid, I mean HELLO 3 dogs, they are obviously going to go crazy when someone knocks or rings the door bell. I called UPS immediately and put in a complaint. They came again today and I actually saw them pull up, so I went out and waited...the delivery guys excuse - there are two doors and he didn't know which one to knock/ring!!! Apparently this guy can't read english because the business name is ON THE DOOR (lol) and the package was addressed to the business.
Anyway, sorry for the rant
Your not alone, I just hope you get your package before you leave *crossed fingers*

ugh that is really anoying that they would pull that bs on you. i wonder if they got a new driver (hopefully temporary one since he seems incompetent while you regular one is on vacation or something) for your location. (there is still no reason the driver should have even done that. just wondering since you said the driver knows you by name) and there is absolutely unaceptable that she was rude to you on the phone...
the 1 thing she was right about is that they really dont have the numbers to the individual ups locations. i used to work there and we had to do all our comunications with them through an internal email system. (we sent a message but could not get one back.) we didnt even have an email address the computer sent an email based on your postal code (the postal code determines the ups delivery location for your location and sends the email there.). so she really couldnt give you a number to callwe didnt have access to them at all BUT she definitely could have sent them a message requesting to get the manager of you delivery branch to call you himself.Intergalactic Proton Powered Electrical Tentacled Advertising Droids!

well at least she did the right thing by requesting it in the message but she still shoudnt have been rude to you and should have told you she was putting the message through. she also could have offered you the option of picking it up yourself or asking if there was another address she could have it deliver it to.
the person it is addressed to has to be the one picking it up and has to show government issued id (i think it has to be photo id but cant remember 100%)Last edited by francine1985; Wed, Jun 8th, 2011 at 08:07 PM.

Oh God.
Ive stopped ordering stuff that gets shipped By UPS completely.
I just cant deal with them anymore.
The last time I had something "delivered" by them,
they did the same thing to me as they did to you.
The guy didnt even knock on the door, and just left us the little slip.
Eventually I they told that they were not going to deliver it anymore
and I had to come in and pick it up.
Which took me almost two hours on transit to get to the place they were holding it.
Even though there was literally a UPS store 5 mins walking from my house.
Woah, I guess I really needed to vent that out ! hahahaha.
Hope everything eventually works out for you and you actually get the stuff delivered.

Oh, that's too bad. I've been lucky with deliveries, I guess, from all companies.
What would have worked best for you in that case was picking it up at the depot the first day after the 'failed attempt' to deliver. I've done that before.
