So you want to ban single shot .22s, too? The rifle with the least power (other than a .177). Wow.

The case you're referring to is, in my opinion, a case of extreme parental neglect. Nothing more than that.

I do find it interesting, however, that when someone is killed by a gun, the gun is blamed. But when someone is killed by a bomb, the bomber is blamed. Strange world, this.

I think it's easy to blame the gun because guns kills too easily.
I'm not entering a debate on whether to ban guns or not. I'm responding to why pressure cookers shouldn't be banned.

Then we agree. I don't want pressure cookers banned either.

It would be silly to blame an inanimate object for what a sick person chooses to do.

If however, thousands of people are injured by pressure cooker bombs then I think it will be time to come up with another method to cook. I would gladly give up my pressure cooker and get rid of one easily available inanimate object that a sick person may use to do harm with. Even if it means cooking my beans a little longer and soaking them overnight.

3 dead, 264 injured in Boston (many maimed for life) by just two pressure cookers. I guess you'll have to find another way to cook those beans. You know, for the common good. Just in case your pressure cooker jumps out of the cupboard and goes on a killing spree.

There are millions of pressure cookers in the US. Terrifying, really...

Very true, and I'm not talking about pots.

In any case, the guys who carried out this were university educated men with training in how to make bombs. If the average Joe want to make these out of their cookers they'd most likely themselves up. Not a bad idea at all.

    Boston Bombing suspect indicted

Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been formally charged with killing four people and using a weapon of mass destruction.
Mr Tsarnaev, 19, faces 30 total charges in the 15 April blasts, which killed three and injured more than 260 others.
A fourth victim, a policeman, was shot dead by him and his brother as they fled authorities, prosecutors say.
If convicted, Mr Tsarnaev faces life in prison or even the death penalty, US prosecutors said.
In Boston, US Attorney Carmen Ortiz described the Tsarnaev brothers' preparation for the attack, which she said began more than two months earlier.

He pleaded not guilty to 30 federal charges on Wednesday.

Tsarnaev has a status hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.

I was waiting for a bus today at a transitway station when a lady wheeled her suitcase beside me on the platform and walked away. I guess she thought it would be too awkward to take with her into the shelter.
I didn't think about it until a guy came walking by, stopped in his tracks and stared at it. All the sudden Boston came to mind and I started to panic, wondering if I should run into the ravine, since there was nowhere else to go. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it's sad that we live in a world where this would even cross my mind.

I can appreciate that. A cop friend of mine in Helena, MT was telling me the high level of fear people, including teh police have, of strange things around transportation hubs and busy pedestrian places. It's almost a miracle that more crazy people have not employed bombs more often.
