I just shoot them an email about redeeming gc with points. I like pc gc more, so I can redeem for any amount I wanted.

Agreed 100% Cinpow, I only ever redeem my points for gift cards so I don't have to spend $20 all in one go. If this is the case, I will definitely be sending them a nice email. I understand trying to stop the theft of others points, but they shouldn't screw everyone over for the fewer that have been hacked. HATE spending $20 in one go and want to keep it the way it was

This irritates me. I've been redeeming my points for gift cards to give to my parents to make their lives a lil less expensice. They're both retired and my dads meds are $300 a month. This way he can pay w gift card or they can buy groceries. They host Xmas dinner which is also pricey. I can somewhat understand the PC cards but I have their MasterCard... That's the whole reason I got one so I could earn faster and redeem more.

Fortinos also has signs at all of the cash registers stating that you cannot redeem points for gift cards :-(

I'm also hoping that the cancelation of redeeming points for gift cards is temporary. I have enough points for a $50gc, doing this helps me keep track and also makes me not have to pay weird amounts at the till after redeeming $20+ in points.

I was just at your superstore in scarborough ontario and went to redeem my pc points for a gift card and was told that points cannot be redeemed for gift cards. But according to the terms and conditions on my pc financial card it says points can be redeemed for gift cards. So what is the policy and is there an updated terms and conditions?

Hi ****, While the Terms & Conditions remain unchanged, we have temporarily suspended this function due to recent fraudulent activity. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

I spoke with a cashier about it this morning, and she had a letter (not publicly available, so I didn't get to read it) that suggested the inability to redeem for gift cards was hoped to be temporary. Yeah, apparently fraudulent activity is what has caused the change but PC hopes to be able to make the option available again to customers. I'm guessing that if this is the case, they have to add in more precautionary measures before allowing it to go live again.

My stolen points were used to buy goods, looked like just over $50 and then the tax on top.

Maybe one of those visa GC with the activation fees?
They make a profit on goods though so us redeeming $20 costs them less where gift cards are full price so I guess it makes business sense
