Tonight-had two items, saw the 20-some people lined up for express (4 tills open) and headed to far side of store. Two shortest lines were lane closed tills and I respect the cashiers' signs and left their areas. Well I went to the next open cash and there are two full carts ahead plus two people with a few items. Cashier is moving things along and there does not seem to be any price matching/couponing going on but there is one family with kids looking bored-seems there was a question about price of an item. When the second cashier brings the info, she gets on till after the other cashier rings in what is owing on whatever that waiting adult requested.
A staffer comes up and tells me that express has 4 tills and lines move faster there. I reply no thank you, I saw the lineup in that area and prefer to be where I was. Only one out of two other customers actually headed over to express.
About multiple items-the customer ahead of me had many bottles of 2L soda ($1 deal!). Second cashier used her scanning tool and aimed it one of any kind of soda and clicked the button as many times as there were sodas of that variety. Saved her wrists running each bottle over the counter scanner! So there are cashiers who can do the scanning fast.Last edited by Ciel; Fri, May 10th, 2013 at 09:54 PM.

No toothpaste or toothbrushes in my local Walmart either. My husband went to Customer Service to ask about them and they said they should be in "sometime this weekend". He let the manager know that he feels it is totally unacceptable to advertise a sale and then have no stock. He also asked for a rain-check and they said they couldn't give him one. I don't understand? Argh! Frustrating! I guess I'll just have to keep going and checking. Booo!

Does Walmart give rain cheques? I am just curious hoping to get some toothbrushes and toothpaste and I know my Walmart is probably out. I ask because I did ask at Walmart once and was told Walmart never gives out rain cheques. Is it just that some locations do and others don't? That's a bit confusing. I know I have seen some people on here say that they have gotten some so not sure.

I too was only looking for 1 crest toothpaste but our Walmart (Wpg West) had no stock of them either and had not received them. So I'll just wait. Patience is a virtue !!!
As far as the co-worker not having good coupon knowledge. Might I suggest that you, as her co-worker, go to your manager and suggest that perhaps someone on board could teach her the ins and outs of the couponing rules. If she already has a language barrier problem, and although she may have been working there for 5 years, maybe she'd appreciate someone helping (teaching her) as no doubt, yours is not the only interaction she has with coupons. Maybe she's too afraid to ask the manager to sit down with her one day to explain all the couponing info as she might think that it may be interpreted that she doesn't know her job and is afraid that she could be be fired.
I appreciate your frustration. The time taken, well time is time. But the attitude is sometimes hard to stay calm around.
But just from reading your post, I was trying to picture myself in the co-worker's shoes and wonder if guiding her as I've suggested above, might help her out in the future. It's worth a try. Because no doubt you will have her as a cashier in the future again one day.
Other than that, I empathize for the frustrating day you had. Hope the weekend will be better for you.Last edited by shirl57; Sat, May 11th, 2013 at 01:47 AM.

If I had the same experience, I probably wouldn't go back to that store. Thank goodness I live in a city that's large enough to give me lots of shopping choices.
Btw, the light Campbell's soups are very rarely the same price as the regular ones; I can see why the cashier refused that PM.

So many times inventory gets screwed up because cashiers use the hand scanner rather than scanning each product through separately.
Also I am 99% sure you should not have been able to price match the light soup since they don't go on sale when the regular soups do.
When you go through a checkout with 131 items and are price matching and couponing I would not expect you to be through the til in 15 mins.
Maybe the cashier was reprimanded behind closed doors for accepting coupons she wasn't sure about. It's always best to double check so she has every angle covered.
There's no sense being bitter about it.
Also, I would hate to know that a co-worker was talking crap about me behind my back. That's really not cool.Last edited by CrazyQT; Sat, May 11th, 2013 at 09:17 AM.

Springbreeze!
I have never had any problem getting any until tonight because the WM that we never go to in the East End of Ottawa (Train Yards) location would not give any either. We live at the other end of town but usually no-problem. If it is advertised you should be able to. Just ask the manager on duty next time you are in and remember his name and always refer to his name when getting a raincheck. You should be able to.

why can't the manager/supervisor stay there for the whole checkout process since they knew you had many coupons, saves the time to call her over and over and over again. waste of time. you got a slow cashier + a slow manager/supervisor. just imagine what will happen if you where not at express lane, there will be people behind you, and you might get a second hit from someone who got piss at you for holding up the line for 1 hour. so you were not fully unlucky in a way.
