Sneaking through this cause the resort is apparently elextronics free (wth) but I have OCD which goes hand in hand w mega anxiety and depression.

Doctor, meds and a psychiatrist were my friends. I'm still highly medicated (had to stay on through my pregnancy and everything). Very rarely do I get "bad thoughts" now. Cognitive therapy has also been a lifesaver for me. K gtg before the anti-techers are on to my cell phone ways!

This is a discussion that I hold very near and dear to my heart. We almost lost my father 14 years ago to severe depression, I still to this day thank his boss for seeing the signs and getting the help that was required. I will never forget that day that my mom sat us down and told us that Dad was in alberta hospital for trying to commit suicide. I have since had my own battles with depression. I have been on multiple medications which helped to bring me out of the deepest bouts, I really don't like taking pharmaceuticals but I needed them. I now have better control over depression, and I owe a lot of that to changes in my diet ( simple but true) and meditation. I can only say.... Please go to a doctor, find someone to help you, no matter how bad it is, even if you just feel a little off. They are many wonderful people out there that can and want to help you.
My biggest help, was admitting to someone else that I was depressed and needed someone to talk to. That is step one and the biggest and best step you can take to helping heal yourself. You don't have to battle depression on your own.
Wow... were a bunch of us sisters in a former life?

My story begins with my dad passing away when I was 17, I was told by others that I had to stay strong for my mom and my sister. So I did. I took over while they fell apart... for 3 years. Then one day my mom came to me and said that she 'was better' and my brain took that cue, and crashed hard. I was smart enough to get help, went to Drs and counselling and unfortunately let them put me on Prozac. The P didn't work, so they upped the dose, still nothing, so they upped it 2 more times. Then counsellors and doctors asked me if I felt like hurting myself - Prozac ran with idea and other self harming suggestions that they made to me and I began cutting, not just into the skin... into veins, deeply, filling beer glasses with blood trying to get the pain out of me, trying to cry because I couldn't. Totally changing personalities when this was happening. I was rushed to the hospital several times and didn't manage to die any of those times. I was told by my family doctor that I was a silly girl seeking attention and to smarten up. I wanted to hurt my mom and sister for 'doing this to me', I didn't want them to be here anymore either. I was put in the hospital psych ward for 3 weeks. I went home, lost my job, quit school, had nothing. I was close to being put back in the hospital, my mom told me to slice up my feet instead of my wrists so that people wouldn't see the scars and embarass her.
I packed a suitcase, told my mom I was going to get the mail. I went to a car dealership and traded my car for a lesser one and $3000. I got on the ferry and drove from Vancouver to Chilliwack, called my BFF and asked her to call my mom and let her know I was ok but needed to get out of there for a while. When I got to Alberta, I called my mom and let her know I was ok. I had decided I was going to drive to NS to stay with her family for a while.
So for the next 5 days I drove 16 hours a day until I got here. I left the Prozac behind at my moms... not the smartest idea to come off it cold like that but I had a feeling it was the root of my problems. Unfortunately I had a reverse reaction to it, ideas that were suggested to me in therapy were magnified by the prozac. There was a show on Oprah years ago that I should have been on that was about the adverse effects of that drug.

I still suffer from depression, I always will, but I have learned some great coping skills and take meds for it daily, I will always need them - that is a given. I had terrible post partum with my second child.

So my door is open as well. Just to vent, or write to.

I have also just come out the other side of cutting with my dd. Please get some professional help, access your EAP if you have one. Telling people is a first step - a big first step. We are here for you.

LOL So....ya....Pop Tarts! LOL I used to like the Smore's one years ago...I saw someone post on SC that Dollarama had "cookies n creme" ones.....and then I went online to search them and OMG, it's not fair that the states has so many things/flavors that we don't!! "red velvet", "chocolate peanut butter", "chocolate chip cookie dough", "confetti cupcake".....*SIGH* anyways, buddy, if you're one of these ladies that gets to go to the states, I would love to try one of these interesting flavours that we can't get here!! hahaha

Folding sheets? OMG...how about actually putting 'em on the bed?? LOL!! My kids tease me that I can't do that without assistance. When it comes to folding, I wing it and it's just a heaping mess. I need Martha Stewart. My kids love Big Bang Theory and wanted me to buy that shirt folder thingy. It can also fold sheets....my stupid enter key is acting up again.

There was a parcel on my doorstep when I got home from work today from armygirl! It's now tucked away until it is time to start opening prezzies.

I'm sorry I've been for a few days. School has been super busy as it winds down. Report cards, track and field, class trips. I'm exhausted! I'm almost caught up with the posts and will answer more questions ASAP.

Here's a pic from the bachelorette weekend. It was so much fun, that my hangover lasted two days hehe...
I'm standing on the far right.
