Just a mention, update if you will regarding a rant I had posted a few weeks ago. At that time a FB cashier pretty much insisted that I wouldn't find spuds much cheaper. I was returning the ones I had bought because the sale sign posted near these bags was actually for another product. Got my $5.00 back and informed her that I almost always buy spuds when the sales are on..... anywhere from $2.00 - $4.00 for a 10 lb. bag. She seemed not to believe me??
Today at FB I got a 10 pound bag of white spuds for $1.99 .... I would've bought 2 or 3 bags if I thought we'd use them up, but I know we couldn't.

A couple of rants...sorry...
I learned when I went purchasing new ink for my new printer...I used the new cartriges inks and after I went to a refurbised store of ink...That inks in new printer are just fulled at the half...Wow..And a new printer is expensive...I was surprised how fast and not many prints I could get so now I know why...Unbelievable and not right...
I much prefer printed coupons I can find in stores..than printed coupons or CashBack Offers like Caddle,Websaver and Check Out 51....But coupons in stores are so difficult to obtain...Many time I dont find the coupons I want and need ...always cleared pads...I installated an app in the phone and lost 2 coupons because I weight not on a good button...grr
I am a woman who love to be on the front balcony of my appt...and I design it to be comfortable outside...But the noise outside is terrible.....Neighbours or same street people who put a garage and doing mechanic and start their cars every 2 ,minutes like very loudly....Eldery man who scream and yell always ...day or night every moment......Below neighboor who smoke weed and the odor is just disgusting.....like 10 time a day.....Another men who walk and scream and dig trough the trahs....and ..it is none stop...
If we h ad the money we will move into a 1200$ rent per month but it is not the case. And I live in a quiet small city in QC,not even Montreal!!!!
I am very tired...I just want calm ,fresh air...and not losing my sanity....
At my house before It was not like that...The goal is to live day by day not to much thinking hahaha !!!!
I love to save money!!! Frugal life hahaah !!!

I was very excited and happy about that.
Today I was able to do a bit of grocery.

I am at the till.Cashier call supervisor for that...GUESS WHAT??? I was told no...!!!They did me ONLY this time as a favor ...WOW...
The rules never changed.I was told by the supervisor next time ask the name of who you speak..They are a lot of people working here and new people and they are not all aware...
Again WOW..
I feel even if I writhe an e-mail about t hat to MAXI Head Office it will change nothing...
They just dont want to change the rule....And it is frustrating...
So hard to save money these days...

The only time the coupon should NOT be accepted, is if it is a STORE coupon... issued by Metro (or whomever). Because their coupon is based on whatever their regular price is. The store consumes the cost of the coupon, as it's basically a "sale price" for that item. If they price-matched AND accepted the coupon, that could mean a loss on that item.
However, a MANUFACTURER'S coupon shouldn't matter. The store will get paid by the brand/manufacturer for the coupon. The coupon (essentially) turns into money for the store. It is barely different than you paying that amount yourself. So regardless if the item was on sale, or price matched, etc. The store will STILL get that money on the value of the coupon.

Missing points on PC offers - multiple store/app offers and not being awarded. Had the $ off of purchase added as well and still no $ off on the product I Purchased. Whats going on PC? Sent in points inquiry and its taking forever. May end up returning the items at that price it isn't worth it if the points/discount is not applied. Ugh

The Giant Tiger near me didn't take a coupon because the item was on sale. I think this person made up this rule. Maybe I have to print the coupon policy and carry it with me.

The Provigo near me didn't take a coupon because item was on liquidation. I avoid this store at all costs. If I have a coupon, there are 4 or 5 people analyzing the coupon. Called over the next cashier, called over the person at the front where they do bottles, lotto tickets, etc. Called over the manager in the office.

I had this happen to me at Giant Tiger a few years ago and I complained to head office. They had the district manager call me back, invited me back to the store, allowed me to price match the item and use my coupons AND gave me a $50 gift card.
The stores aren't always up to date on the policies.

I dislike the outcome, but Flemeth was correct:
A primary principle behind store coupon policy is not to allow double-discounts or combining one offer with another. Most of us would probably agree that this is reasonable. We see it all the time with restaurant coupons. i.e. you can't mix special sales promotions with their combo deals. Why should it be any different with grocery stores? While many stores do allow for this event, the stores which deny us this double-dip benefit are not technically in the wrong. "Clearance" is considered a special offer.
I don't like it, but also understand why stores would only allow coupons on regularly priced items. They are technically 'right', too. No double-discounts on the same item.
However, they are just being short-sighted with their aggressive enforcement. The coupons got the customer into the store and now they try to make your experience miserable. Are you going to come back? Their penny-pinching behaviour will just do the opposite. They can fool me into their store the first time, but I will not return with ANY coupon in the future. I just won't go back. They get to 'win'.
What really makes me laugh is how they won't allow coupons on clearance items. I understand that they want to recover something from their clearance garbage, but they forget that those items are on the clearance rack for a reason and arguing over a couple additional extra lost pennies just defeats the purpose. If they are so darned desperate to keep hold of their clearance items, LET THEM. They prefer to toss merchandise in the trash than recover a few cents on the dollar; as if that crap is going to be flying off the shelves the moment I leave. You can't save stupid.
The most aggressive restaurant chains actually let me scan a coupon and then give it back to me so that I can re-use it on a future visit. That's smart management. They know the coupon got me in the door. Get me back in the door without the restaurant needing to re-print/re-mail/re-purchase coupon advertising. Otherwise, they know that I will simply stay away until a new set of coupons arrive in the mail. No missed opportunities. I haven't seen that kind of sense in groceries, yet, but can always hope.Last edited by HermanH; Wed, Sep 11th, 2024 at 12:54 AM.
