Local on-line auction house that handles Costco, Home Depot returns. Bid on a new in box/returned MAAX medicine cabinet (36” x 31”). Currently priced at $898 on Home Depot and won the bid for $65. With taxes and bidding fees make it a savings of over 91%. Hoot hoot

Went to RCSS to PM strawberries.

    Found:
Philly Cream cheese for .94 (expires Oct 2023)
Tre Stelle Lactose free cream cheese for .84 (Expires Oct 2023)

We don't usually buy this but we do like it in the summer/fall for road trips (make a bagel and cream cheese on the road for breakfast!)

They are on sale for $4.99 each so I bought 4 jars for $19.96 in total.

I redeem $10 scene points first; then, use $1 off coupon (tearpad a while go) on each.

My final out of pocket is $5.96 which is $1.49 per jar. The 1000 scene points is just redeemed/earned so no change.

If you are interested in large purchase on this item for either yourself or donation, don't forget spend $125 and get 1000 points. That will even cheap per jar.

I think the normal price nowadays is $5-6 so I think it's a deal hard to pass.

    Good luck!

I went back to Sobeys today since there is a one-day Scene+ offer of 10% off your total purchase of $75.00 or more. The 1,000 points WUB4 jars of specific Smucker's jam/jelly is still on until June 7 (it's in this week's flyer). I bought:

    16 x Smucker's jam/jelly/marmalade (different varieties) @ $4.99 each = $79.84

    used 16 x $1.00 coupons (tear-pad) = $16.00

    earned 4 x 1,000 Scene points (1,000/4 jars) = $40.00 value

    minus 10% = $7.98

    $79.84 (cost) - $16.00 (coupons) - $40.00 (points value) - $7.98 (10% discount) = $15.86 total or 99 cents per jar of Smucker's jam/jelly/marmalade

Along with the Smucker's, I also purchased multiples of Catelli Pasta Sauce and Compliments Pasta. Both are on sale this week for $ .88 if you are a Scene+ member. With today's one-day Scene+ members offer of 10% off your purchase of $75.00 or more, it works out to:

    Catelli Pasta Sauce at $ .88 - 10% = $ .79 per jar

    Complements Pasta at $ .88 - 10% = $ .79 per 900g package

I bought some for my family and some for the food bank. At these prices, it's easy to be generous!

Most of the cashiers and CSMs are great when it comes to coupons. But there are the occasional ones who try to do everything possible to prevent you from using them. When I was at RCSS today, I knew I was going to have a tug-of-war when a particular CSM, whose name I won't post but it has 3 letters, came to assist the rookie cashier.

Jumbo boxes of Vector cereal were clearance priced at $2.94 and there were lots both at the front of the store and in the cereal aisle. The best before date is June 15, ten days from today. I had 18 x $1.50 coupons so I picked up 18 boxes and headed for the check-out.

My cashier was new and needed assistance. That's when I saw who was coming to assist. Noooooooooooooooo, not her!

First, she told me that I can't use more than one coupon because it states "per purchase". I explained it didn't say one per transaction so it should be fine.

Then she said I couldn't use any of them because it states "cannot be used with any other offer" and the cereal was clearance priced. Nope, I explained that sale and clearance prices do not eliminate the use of coupons.

Then she told me that the store would take a loss if I used a $1.50 coupon on a $2.94 item. Ah, no, the store will be reimbursed for the coupons. I was not about to back down since the best before date was 10 days away yet the food bank will gladly accept these.

So, she phoned her supervisor. I could hear her making comments like, "but then she will get the cereal for $1.44" and "you mean, let her use all 18 coupons?" She was not a happy camper. I, on the other hand, was grateful for store managers who are happy to move clearance items, especially if they're being donated.

    So, it worked out to:

    18 x jumbo boxes of Vector cereal @ $2.94 = $52.92

    minus 18 x $1.50 coupons (tear-pad) = $27.00

for a difference of $52.92 - $27.00 = $25.92 or, as the CSM pointed out, $1.44 per jumbo box

I didn't have the heart to tell her that I also had 2 PCO points on the cereal:

    digital offer of 400 points/$2.00 spent on Vector = 10,400 points = $10.40
    digital offer of 200 points/$1.00 spent on Kellogg's cereal = $10,800 points = $10.80
    for a total points value of $10.40 + $10.80 = $21.20

    $25.92 (cost) - $21.20 (points value) = $4.72

So my 18 jumbo boxes of Vector cereal for the Salvation Army food bank actually worked out to 26 cents per box, dear CSM!

Sometimes it makes you wonder if they feel that you are taking it out of their personal paycheque or annual bonus.

26 cents / box is simply exemplary.

    Well Done!!

Chances are, she will do this again to another customer even though she's been told otherwise.
