    ok. crockpot meal.

    beef dips.
1 small roast, remove most of the fat if you see any.
    put into crockpot.
    add
1/4 c soya sauce, 3-5 peppercorns, a head of peeled garlic. a tbsp. of beef boilion powder. and a bit of itialian seasoning.
    1/2 c water.
cover , turn on low. for 8 - 10 hours.

you know when it is done when you can shred it with a fork.
the sauce , is so good for dipping. like really good.
I serve on crusty buns, with some sliced gr peppers. and some cheese if wanted. a cup of sauce for dipping. and coleslaw on the side.
    it is the best.
I make it for people who hate crockpot meals and they are all surprised its fromt eh crockpot.
This looks great - do you put the roast into the crockpot frozen or thawed? I don't use garlic - would that make a difference?

My DH meets/met a lot of the above points. Our improvements. Cash only spending for individual spending money i.e. we are both on an allowance. I "do" the finances, but we both sit and talk about them biweekly. The allowance and talk have improved things around here drastically. Junk food is an addiction...one we both have an issue with...see also, all my rants about Coke in the weight loss thread. Gah!

I think it's very important to make a point of sitting down weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on your budget to go over the "current situation & or goals". It's fantastic that you do this it put people back in check to get an update & visual of what is what.

Well yesterday we went to Whistler resort north of Vancouver-now that is one pricey little town. The drive there is very pretty and so is the town itself. Strolled around and window shopped and stopped to see 3 waterfalls on the way back. Total outlay $16.85 for 3 for a take out deli lunch( took cold drinks with us) and $5.00 for parking so a fairly frugal way to see an expensive but beautiful place.

Your heart was in the right place, why is she offended? Is it because it's a second hand store or she doesn't want the treat to new clothing? Is her birthday coming up soon or another occasion to work it in as a gift?

Lazy day here woke up to rain again....grr....I really need to do some laundry and can't hang them out to dry. Oh well hope the weather clears up so I can get some laundry done before we leave on Saturday am for Kingston. There is a Target in Kingston and I'm wondering if it would be worth my while to pop in an see if I can double coupon (target coupon + manufacturer) but I have seen quite a few post saying that it's quite the hassle. So my mom is coming over tomorrow to spend time with the boys and will be spending the night, this should prove interesting as the boys are no longer babies and prefer to do their own thing on the xbox or laptop. I have a feeling I will be entertaining her the whole time (sigh). You ladies have heard me say that my parents are never around either in Arizona (Nov. - March) for the winters or out west or east for the spring & summers (may to August). So it's kinda awkward for the kids who really don't have a relationship with my kids & don't get to spend time with them when they were younger and the kids wanted them around. Now the kids are older and more independent and enjoy doing there own thing and don't need my mom making them feel guilty for not wanting to hang out with her.

The show you refer to is the only one I've seen. The husband declared his wife a money moron, while he was a major part of the problem. Sheesh, wouldn't work more than 20 hours a week, but expected his stay-at-home wife to foot half the bills, despite the fact she was looking after his baby.

I think its kinda funny - on money morons i've noticed that both end up being declared money morons and the one pointing the fingers ends up looking worse.

I think that you should have a back up plan for each day of the week so that if your dh doesn't want to cook that you take over or start the meals like you mentioned. But I guess the question will then be will he eat what you cook or will he still want to go out? 2. Leave the Pepsi alone is my advice for now if he's addicted then he will get cranky and irritable and you can't force him to quit or make him cut down he has to want to do it. And is you pack less pop for his lunch he will just end up stopping and picking the stuff up at the corner store and pay way more than what you would have spent. What about making baked goods such as yummy brownies, cookies, cakes instead of ice cream treats. Start slowly and see if you can buy 1 carton of ice cream instead of 2 (supplementing with the baking) but you will have to do the baking otherwise he will buy the treats. Same goes for chips try and only reduce the amount of treats that you purchase by 1 each week until he's down to a reasonable amount (this may or may not work). 3. Picky eater - well if he's cooking then there shouldn't be a problem but if you are cooking well then it is what it is, you have made dinner and that's that, as you know he is picky obviously you follow/cater to his picky habits which you are used to but don't like. So if you are cooking you are in charge....more motivation for him to cook as he cooks what he likes to eat. 4. Brand loyalty, well that is tough if it's just plain preference then that's easy to change within reason but if it's because Tide is gently on his skin well then don't want to irritate it. 5. Overspending comes down to discipline in my opinion, if you can afford to keep up with the Jones then by all means indulge but if you can't things have to change, it sounds like your dh is not on board with your budgeting & goals and things really need to change, it sounds like you have had the "money talk" but he's not listening which is a big problem.
I have been trying to meal plan but if he just doesn't want to cook, being 8 months pregnant I am SO exhausted when I get home, my back hurts and I am STARVING. I can't wait until I'm on mat leave and I'm in charge of the cooking. Things are definitely going to change

Last night grocery shopping I bought 4 cartons of juice and lemonade (2 for him, 2 for me) on sale for $1 instead of pop. We still have some at home but I told him that I am hoping he drinks the juice a little more than the pop. I was wondering if it is even cheaper to be buying juice than pop... and just figured it out and we spend no more than $2.99 on a case of pop (4260 ml) and last night we spent $4 on 4 things of juice (7250 ml) so yes it is a bit cheaper to buy the juice. (5437 ml of juice v. 4260 ml of pop for the same $3)

Again I have attempted to make homemade goods but with working full time and then working on the house, there just isn't ever any time lol. I just need to make it through this month and then hopefully things will change (until I start work again lol).

I don't think it's so much what he eats, but the portions he eats it in. Last night shopping we bought those small cups of ice cream (on sale for $1) with my chapman's coupons. He ate an entire tub last night. Yes I know they are small, but really?? And the thing with the ice cream is that it's hard to buy JUST ONE of those, and pay $1, when I can stock up and get 5 for free. But those 5 tubs will not last 5 weeks when stocking up as they should realistically as I don't eat them. They will be gone in a week.

He SAYS he likes Tide because everything else irritates his skin, but I switched once without him knowing and he never complained once until he saw the bottle 2 weeks later than started pretending to be itchy....

The problem is we DO have the money (right now with both of us working) to buy whatever we want, to eat out, etc. But then we are breaking even and saving NO money. I would like to start saving money for retirement, vacations, future reno's, etc. but there is no where for this money to come from when we spend the way we do.
