Saving money on the basic stuff gives me more money to spend on the stuff that I really enjoy. Being frugal does mean being cheap, it means saving and getting more with less so that you have more left for the things that bring you pleasure in life.

These are some of the things that I do to treat myself: eating good quality dark chocolate, hiring a local kid to shovel my snow so that I don't have to shovel it myself, wearing high-quality shoes, sleeping in comfortable bedding on a good quality mattress, subscribing to Netflix, using a taxi when I want one, drinking good wine, and eating out at tasty restaurants. These are just a few ways I like to use my savings. How about you? What are the things that you like to do to treat yourself??

Treat myself? I put my socks, undies, shirt and some sweatpants in the dryer for 5 minutes and then put them on and sit on my lazy boy watching cat videos on my iPad.

What a cheap thrill that is!! Yahoo!!

what an interesting question, surprised there are not more posts.
this season usually i am a minimalist not sure why.
sitting outside reading a good book. that i likely got for free
(i do way too much clicking to get thingys)
with the crazy cats --- noticing what they want and doing it.
    they don't smile i do,,,
remembering my mom and how every so often i revert into thinking
    i'll call her.
oh and of course complaining about the weather, haha.
and making fun of americans, extra haha

    beer, wine, spirits.
popcorn, nachos and salsa, salt and vinegar chips

    seriously though:

a great steak, cooked rare and a bottle of really good red wine at a nice restaurant is always a treat.

going on a fishing trip with my good buddy.

purchasing some rare vinyl at a record store (getting more difficult these days)

I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

Same here. My rewards tend to be on the cheap side. A latte at Starbucks on Saturday night, which doubles as date night with hubby. Going camping for a vacation. Going to hubby's favourite fishing spot for a picnic.

Over a year ago, I had the epiphany that the things I bought weren't making me happy because I had to work more, give up time, to pay for it all. My whole way of life started changing once I started asking if purchase XYZ was adding value and fulfillment to my life. It was a big fat no.

I love a special coffee from Starbucks, or I buy the ingredients for some recipe that I really want to make, but have been saving for a special occasion.

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

I'm with you on the snacks, vinyl & steak cooked rare. A bottle of red wine is wonderful. I enjoy Italian Red Wine once again.

One of the things I really like to treat myself to is a nice warm fluffy bathrobe, sometimes a good movie & a good cup of tea with a really gooey butter tart. One of my favourites.

I do that. Not because I want to save money, but because I'm on a perpetual diet.
