I am moving so I put my glass dining room table on kijiji for sale. I wasnt asking much and posted all the measurements. A woman came by today to buy the table so my boyfriend and I moved it down to the lobby for her. She then tried to put in in her ford focus.. we all knew it wasnt going to fir but she was detewrmined and said she measured it and it would fit. It didnt and she chipped all the edges.. refused to pay for it and left.. I could cry. I took 30 mins out of my busy moving day for her and she broke my table and refused to pay for it.

    ^ That really sucks.

To be honest, you shouldn't of carried it down unless the deal was done and the cash was in your hands. Should of had her come see the table upstairs...if she liked it, she should of paid for it and remove the table on her own. Or you could of assisted her, but only after the deal was done. We all learn from our mistakes

True. Although, it sounds like the edges were just damaged. And we don't really know the value or what condition it was in...and i'm assuming the BF helped load the table in the car as well....so, he may also be at fault as well.

It was in perfect condition and now two sides of it are cracked and jagged. My boyfriend definitely did not help them try to get it into the car.

Sometimes its just nice to get something off your chest without having your face rubbed in it.

Sorry about your experience! Get those frustrations out - tear up a few of your moving boxes, slam a few doors, take a deep breath and after moving into your new home, kick off your shoes and enjoy your favorite alcoholic beverage

I totally hear u. I had read on kijiji about some horrific story, a nice family was giving out a mattress set FREE that they do not need anymore in good useable condition, hoping to help others in need. However a couple went and tried to get the mattress set from their basement, obviously didn't pay attention to the way and angle to move them up, the mattress were all torn and bent out of shape. And that couple just left them right outside their door, on their front porch ! I couldn't believe the nerves of those ppl ! I have gone through the FREE stuff section a couple times myself, I always ONLY get stuffs that I need and can definitely use. Any extra I would leave them so others have a chance too. Plus I always ask where the items are currently located, the dimension and weight and make sure I can move it without damaging others' property (including landscape) and that it can be fit into my vehicle. I was always punctual, never "no-show" and if for any emergency that I couldn't make it, I always call and leave my cell number. Just try to cause as less inconveniences as possible. I mean these ppl are generous enough to give out things, please don't abuse the system and respect others property.
