My eldest DD is starting grade 2. The school supplies pencils, books, etc. Is there anything they might not supply that I will need to purchase before school starts aside from the backpack/lunch bag? She is enrolled in french public (CEPEO)

No its too soon for school thoughts!
My tip is our good old new favourite place Dollarama!
While they're aren't many coupons for back to school stuff out there. (or am I missing something...besides the occasional MIR)
I have seen stuff at Dollarama from brands such as buffalo ( for hi-lighters) etc.

Thanks ahatt
The Zellers deals are especially good if people have the SPC VIP, expiring the end of this month. Also price match the Walmart flyer deals at Zellers, use SPC VIP + HBC points+ 100 HBC points for using reusable shopping bags.
Some teachers buy school supplieds for their students in need too.

Thanks for starting this up. Believe it or not, now is the best time to buy these kinds of supplies for around the house/office, or if you have a business. I usually buy my supplies at this time of year.
Also, please do consider buying extras of school supplies and backpacks and donating them. I've done it in the past through the local food bank, Mission, church or even women's shelters. Just call up a few before and see if they'd like/what they might need.

Great thread idea
I have started buying a bit of back to school items and every time I bring something new home, my children tell me "but we still have lots of summer left!" They don't want to be reminded that they are going back. I LOVE that staples commercial with the dad who dances to the Most Wonderful Time of the Year song. My husband and I always laugh at it.
I am actually finishing my last term of college too so its bitter sweet for me LOL.
Oh, I forgot to add that Pharmasave pharmacy usually has some pretty good deals in late august. We just live down the road so I frequent there and pick up last minute items

Sleep Country Canada's selected stores also accept the backpacks filled with school supplies.
By the end of September, school supplies + backpacks go on sale. There is sometimes a second sale around December/ January. We put our backpacks together in the fall. Bought a $29 backpack at RCSS (good back support) and paid $4.94.

Thanks so much for starting the thread OP! I cringe to think about school supplies already, LOL, but time marches forward and September will be here before I want it to be.
