Thread: doctor appoinment time
-
Fri, Aug 12th, 2011, 07:28 PM #1
I recently had a doctors appointment, my appointment time was for 11:15 and I got to the office at 11:10. About 2 minutes after me, about 3 or 4 people showed up for their appointments.
I was wondering what time their appointments were for, and if I had gotten to the office any later would I have to wait after everyone else, that came before me.
Is your doctors office first come first serve or do they follow the appointment time. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

For our family doctor, they go by appointment time - and if they are backed up and are running late, then they still follow that order.

Most offices double and triple book. When they have 3 patients at 8:00 they will take whichever person comes first.

By appointment time. My Dr. is awesome! He never over books. And he doesn't book them so close together so he doesn't get behind schedule. He never rushes you either. Usually I go about 10 minutes early and end up getting called right away. I'm dreading the thought if he retires or moves away. I've never had such a good doctor before. And when I've brought in forms to be filled out, he does them right then so I can take them with me. My friend brought forms for his doctor, 2 months later he had to keep phoning and asking if they're done yet.

I am the receptionist for my family Dr. We book 1 person per appointment time. (person 1 has earlier appt time, person #2 has later time). The only time patient #2 is taken in prior to person #1 is if that person has not yet arrived or is in the restroom when the Dr. is ready for them. Otherwise person #2 can get there any time early, and still go in around his appt time.

I think mine's by appt. time. When I was going to the hospital for appts with a specialist it was first come first serve. Ugh, I'd wait hours to see this dr for a few minutes. (just checkups for post-surgery on a broken bone, nothing intense)

Easy way to avoid wasting your time is to phone ahead and ask if the appointments are running on time. If they aren't, then you don't need to sit in an already crowded waiting room.
