I know Ontario and Quebec was suppose to get an Ice Storm starting yesterday, we sure did. I'm in St.Catharines and our power just came back on, and it's still freezing rain outside. It's dangerous but this is the beauty of ice I woke up to outside the window this morning. I hope everyone is safe and staying INSIDE in the areas it is hitting.

So far we have a mix but it's mixed in with about 30cm of snow so far. I heard the pelting all night on the windows. It keeps switching back and forth so we don't have the icicles on everything weighing it down at least on the island. Off island to the south they are getting more freezing rain and power outages.

DH is outside with his ski helmet on
He is trying to move the cars to be less under the trees as huge limbs are crashing down.
It is bad but nothing like the storm of 98. We lost power last night but since we were asleep it was not a big dealFriends don't let real friends pay full price.

The transformer behind my house, blew like 6 times during the night, which made my power constanly go out. I had a tough time sleeping because of the the explosions from the transformers. Luckly I have power now, but alot of areas around me dont and some wont have power for another 2 days.
The mall in Oshawa, does'nt have power either, so I guess they'll be losing alot of money, since its the last Sunday before Christmas.

Trees are down everywhere!
I used hot water from a kettle to open my car door this morning.
Then let my car run for 30 minutes to defrost before I cold chip away at the layers of ice on it!
I had to move my car before the tree fell on it.
Most of the power is out around us... Thankfully we have power though.
But people on the roads are nuts! How come people don't realize that when the power is out, the intersection is now a four-way stop!?? Dangerous!!!WHATT, You aren't doing Swagbucks? http://swagbucks.com/refer/acosta22

I believe there are still about 500,000 without power throughout Ontario and Quebec. The freezing rain has stopped here and infact it isn't raining anymore (fingers crossed) This is how the trees look behind our building. That's ice. Not snow.

We were doing "gardening" in our back yard.
The neighbour's tree branch was full of ice and bent over our fence with the weight of the ice. Was worried that it would break the fence, so we took the pruners and trimmed the tree. In December!
At least the old fence will last a little longer.

Yeag, Halifax isn't getting the freezing rain, but northern mainland, and Cape Breton are getting it. All I hear right now is constant little rain balls hitting the windows. We have heat, and power, so we are good.
what I secretly have my fingers crossed for is that it stays bad until tomorrow (but no one without power, etc) so work gets closed for the 23rd. Then I would get 12 days off, rather than a weekend, one day of work, and then 9 days off.
