Regifting and hand me down January

I had an amazing year last year. So for this year January is my regift giving month. It's off to a great start. I've been going through what I purchased that I never used. Books I loved read and don't plan to read again. Scarfs that were gifts that weren't my style. Bath salts I didn't like. Lotions I won't use. Everyone I love is getting gifts this month no expectations of returns, but only if I suspect they'll enjoy it more than me. Today I gave away 6 items to three different people. Retail value 300 dollars. Moneys spent on these items. None, well not recently anyways. Its very cleansing to do it. I probably lean towards being a hoarder (if only I had more storage) and so it is good for everyone..my closets and their hearts. I think those of us in a position to do so, should do a smart canucks generosity challenge. Where meaningful gifts were given to people who benefit and we share feedback about how it went. I think sometimes we forget just how fortunate we are. My two best stories thus far! Another immigrant family I know gets no hand me downs for her children so this month..two large bags of childrens clothing, dresses, coats and shoes even a backpack she recieved with many smiles and hugs. 2.) I know a girl whose been feeling very down whose had a very hard life, so she recieved a designer sweater and designer hankerchief that really truly were not my style but hers. So I let her go through my items destined for a donation bin after...and some of the items being truly ugly made her laugh so hard she found it therapeutic. This is someone who spends most of her days crying..she spent a good 5 minutes laughing. She took one pair of hideous leggings just to get a giggle later on. That folks is a process worth repeating.

I just want to say that it's an excellent idea to purge your stuffs. I do that all the time bc I am a shopaholic packrat, usually I put brand new stuff that I won't use, have too many, ect and let people pick and choose what they want. That way I got my space back and feel less guilty about tossing out stuffs. TBH, sometimes I regret it but most of the time I don't really miss the stuffs.

So inspiring! Gotta go through my stuff one of these days.. we use to have a storage unit and I got rid of it when we moved and all the boxes are in the garage for me to sift through.. bet theres lot of treasure in there!

Great brag/story ... It would be so nice if we all could do this .i've been on both sides of the fence ( as recent as last Friday I gave away an unworn pair of sandals that I bought in FL some time ago ..they looked amazing on the recipients feet & she couldn't thank me enough. I've also gifted her clothing in the past. I'm in the process of going through DS baby stuff to give to one expectant neighbour. I've been blessed by another neighbour that I'm very close with , with a lot of items( furniture, clothing) for DS that saved us a lot of $$ ..she recently brought over a 2 PC Osh Kosh snowsuit that looks like new( says her son wore it like 3 times) & a small foam Toy Story couch..Another acquaintance has given me quite a bit of stuff(clothing, toys) for DS as well so no need to buy too much of these items esp. clothing as he is growing too fast.
