Will be pulling the crockpot out this week I hope. Need to plan what night it will be. Probably Wednesday since we have hockey early in the morning and will be tired by the time home for dinner. Will do chicken breast, potatoes (can I chop up potatoes and season with spices an olive oil and then wrap in tinfoil and put on top of chicken in crockpot?)

I have beef curry in the crockpot for tonight. We're having company so I hope it's good.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

I used the crockpot on Wednesday. Had a "bag of chicken" kicking around in the freezer. Think it was when we scored a bunch of reduced meat for around a $1LB. It was breasts with bone in and skin. Plopped in slowcooker and emptied the 2 on the go bottles of Sweet baby Ray bbq sauce from the fridge. Served quickly with rice and canned corn. Had an extra kid to feed and still had leftovers for my lunch today
Cheap meal it was for sure!

In my experience, chicken breast doesn't do well in the crockpot for long periods, thighs work much better. Even those aren't great for a long (10+ hour) cook. For those things, I often cook things overnight, get out of bed and turn it off at say 5 a.m. to let it cool. I think your potato idea would work, but they'd need a much longer cooking time. If cooking overnight, maybe put them in first in the evening and then add the chicken before you went to bed?

Got a good deal on turkey drumsticks a few weeks ago and just thawed it out today to try in the slow cooker. I found this recipe and I hope it's tasty. I added a little extra of just about everything because I am cooking 4 drumsticks.

Pulled a peameal chunk from the freezer and made that in the slowcooker yesterday. It did the trick. Left overs tonight and whatever is leftover will be chopped up and frozen to add to omelettes on the weekend

Hello! I just stumbled into this thread and like so many of you, my crockpots are so much fun to use...one pot, no mess! And I never, ever see the need to haul out a frying pan to "sear" meats...it's not dry cooking, it's moist cooking! I have a few recipes I'd love to share...when I get off this ipad, lol, and can type on our computer! I think today is a crockpot day!

I've made this many times...so addictive!
Chicken on a Bun
In a bowl, mix together: 1 12-oz bottle of bbq sauce, 1/2C Italian salad dressing, 1/4C brown sugar (I use Splenda brown sugar), 2 tbsp worchestershire sauce.
Place into the pot: 5-6 frozen, boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Dump the liquid mixture over it all.
Cook 3-4 hrs on high, 6-8 hrs on low.
Shred, place on buns and serve. We like to put a little bagged coleslaw on top for crunch...YUM!!
5-6 frozen, skinnless chicken breasts
