I am STILL laughing about walkonby stuffing the adult tape into the Cricket doll. omg. that is SO funny!!!

I didn't have a doll that was special, really. My mom bought me a Cabbage Patch Kid when they were all the rage back in the early 80's but I was at that awkward age where I wasn't sure if I wanted a doll or if I didn't. So I enjoyed her for awhile but not for long. Eventually, I donated her and then kicked myself for it later. My mom had kind of pressured me a little to donate her and I gave her away out of sense of guilt and desire to please my mom but it's the one thing I wished I had kept and that I wished she had insisted I keep for when I was older just because it would have been very cool to pass her on to my own kids. Of course, at that age, I wasn't thinking about those kinds of things so I let her go.

My mom made all of our doll clothes so I had THE best dressed dolls and barbies. The Cabbage Patch girl was no exception either. She had a massive wardrobe of beautiful outfits and my mom bought the iron-on "Cabbage Patch kids" patches for the clothes so they looked official.

My sister had the Holly Hobbie doll and oh my goodness, how I COVETED that thing. I had doll envy forever! It wasn't until I was in my mid-twenties and I was telling my in-laws the story about that doll that I had wanted forever!!! My FIL went out specially and bought me one that was a close replica of her for Christmas after hearing that story. He's always been such a thoughtful and sweet man. I cried when opened her. lol.

My special creature was a giant teddy I got when I was seven. He isn't giant by today's standards but he was back then. I still have him and I dug him out of a box a few years back when DD was having a teddy bear picnic at school in kindergarten. I didn't tell her I was going, but I dug him out of the basement and showed up with good ole teddy to share the picnic with her. :D
