Last Walmart Flyer had Maxwell House instant coffee for $2.97. I rode my bike over (4 Miles!) only to find they had no stock. When I went to the service counter, they first said they don't give rain checks. I, and an older nasty guy in a wheelchair, were complaining so they phoned the manager. While he was on the phone I spoke loudly that I had ridden over etc. and the manager told them to hold 4 jars for me when it came in. The girl wrote down a note saying I was good for 4 but said it wasn't a rain check!

They called me a day later and when I went down they only had 2 jars. I stood up to them again, and this time they stamped a receipt "rain check" and have since phoned me with the other two.

This deal saved me about $6 X 4 = $24.00, yet dozens of other people who showed up did not force the issue and got nothing. Why Walmart would do a full page on a sale when there was no product astounds me, but so does their refusal to honor the price without a fight. Lesson: Be loud and beat them up with common sense.

Good for you for standing up!!!

There was a sale this week or last week - about Kotex pantyliners - and they were sold out at WM. I asked if they gave rainchecks the employee told me they don't give them and the items in the flyer are "while quantities last". I though that was odd. I'll bring it up with a manager again if there is an item i need!

I am always proud to see when someone stands up to the big company like this. Good for you. I dont get how can a company advertize something that they have 5 of? Like they had 2 door pantry on sale for $48 and I went to get one, there was none left. I was there at the time the door opened and went straight there, NONE! I was pissed. I went to the customer service desk and asked how come there is none? She said they sold out! I asked her if they were open 24 hours the night before and she said no. I said the sale starts today and yet there are no pantries available. I said to her I will go to the other WM and get it there. I get there, and sure enough they have some, I asked the guy if it is the same price as the other WM since the price wasnt adjusted on the shelf and he said no, that the price is $99 (I believe - cant remember what the regular price was anymore)... I said to him doesnt WM price match and after all it was WM on the other side of town that has this on sale, not any other store, he shrugged it off as because the other store has grand reopening its something only they did. Whatever! Girl at the customer service in the other store, could've easily saved me travel time, but why would she, right?

Apperently, what happened is that the shipment was LATE getting to the store. So, now weeks after the original flyer came out, there was stacks and stacks of these pantries for $48. Of course I was happy to get one but I am just wondering, if there is a lot of other sales items that come in flyer, are we to assume they received their stock or should we actually come and keep on checking on that sale weeks after the flyer is out and done with?

It frustrats me to no end that this is happening with such big companies like WM. This should NEVER happen. And the other store should've let those pantries go for $48 if this store didnt have any. Just honor whats going on.

So, good for you for not letting them get away with this.

Walmart NEVER has coffee when it's advertised on sale. It's happened to me 3 times already. Not happy, sometimes I will go in just for that 1 item, because it will make a difference in my families' finances. Not fair WM! WTG with your persistence, you have a lot more patience then I do. I'm still fairly new and haven't done the PM, or the complaining thing yet, but so happy you did.

I too was frustrated when on the second day of the sale they had no ziplock. I went straight to customer service and got a raincheck for 4. Two days later I went back and asked about them again. This time a woman informed me that I wouldn't be given a raincheck on this item as it was a special promotion. I didn't tell her that I had just been given one 2 days before. THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE SOMETIMES!!!

Good for you for standing up for yourself! They know they're having the sale, they should pre-order in anticipation... no excuse not to have stock.

If you the Walmart paper flyer you could price match at Zellers if the coffee on the flyer doesn't say limited time offer or if where you live if you have a Fields you can price match there.

I've never had issues with rainchecks but now that I think of it I don't know if I've ever requested one at Walmart.

im stubborn in general. i will wait at cash for a very looong time even if its only for them to price check a difference of 50cents. i did this over a gift bag last year. csm was not impressed. did i care? nope. ended up getting it for free after 20min. it wasnt even the gift bag. it is the principle behind it, and i refuse to stand down to big companies and their crap.

I was told "we don't give rainchecks on sale items" last time I asked ... I had to scratch my head and I'm still not sure what the use of a raincheck is, then

Not too sure what Walmart you went to - but I remember seeing a guy take ATLEAST 60-70 jars of Maxwell a week or so ago. He was PM it from another store (maybe Zellers - not sure), so although it IS very frustrating that this happens (or even items removed on purpose) it's not always the case that they don't bring enough in - sometimes it's someone just taking a BUTTLOAD. But I hear you! Especially riding all that way. Maybe call ahead next time? Just to atleast save your energy.

I do that EXACT same thing! Sometimes the DH gets a little impatient, but he's getting better lol. Last time the cashier asks me if I wanted to get the CSM to price check and would I wait. (Hoping I'm sure that I'd say 'Don't bother'), but I say YUP! I'll wait. Got nothing to do but save money. She rolled her eyes. Whatever - she doesn't pay my mortgage or any of my bills.

Years ago I was told Walmart doesn't give rainchecks because they don't have sale prices when I asked for a raincheck for Kraft barbeque sauce.I said of course it's on sale because last week it was $2.99 then the flyer price says $0.99.Then she looked in the drawer there was a pad that said rainchecks when I convinced her to write a raincheck.I didn't get a raincheck because a manager came by and said they had pallets of barbeque sauce.I guess it was in the warehouse area of the store. He sent someone to get me some barbeque sauce.
