Who knows, he may come back if Harper resigns after this election.

And as I said earlier the values of redneck bubba who votes Conservative are not indicative of how the Conservative party governs. They govern as centrists and I'm a centrist. If the Conservative party swung hard to the right and the Liberals moved to the center and became the centrist party then I'd vote for them. As it is the Liberals have swung to the left to join the NDP and Greens leaving the Conservative Party as the only party that represents centrists.

I took that vote compass thing CBC has going last month. I was closer to the center than any of the parties are. And of the 4 that were either left or right of me the Conservatives were the closest.

It is not all about alienating people (in some cases, not all), it looked like they would not win, it made sense for people to get out and get cushy private sector jobs before there are lots of people looking at the same time

I am more of a fiscal conservative, and like Dave, find the actual policies of the Conservative government more centrist than many of their supporters think. I do not like Harper, I wouldn't say I am anti-Harper but I think he has run his course in the party. It was what they needed for a while to bring the fractions together with a strong leader, but now they need a softer face to deal with the situation Canada is in. There are a handful of decent Ministers who are running and could have become bigger names if they became leader early enough.

Yes, about 2 years before the election, which is standard for politicians with a long election coming up with a fixed date where the last 18 months are all focused on the election

Ahahahaha.....Bubba from the boonies / boondocks. Priceless

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in that compass. Such tools can be manipulated to spill out utter carcass
