With unemployment rates so high particularly in the US, it's just not the graduates who can't find jobs.....many on HERE can't either.
This year my tuition is 90% covered by a grant. Good news is I don't have to pay out the behind for school and can get serious about me actually moving to Toronto to find a job because I have more money freed up for rent.
I have to maintain a 3.8GPA or higher to continue getting the grant each year so hopefully I can maintain it. I'm not sure if I would be eligible if I started working again because I never applied last year thinking I was too high income for assistance so who knows I could have had it covered last year too.

Same. I have been working since I was 16. Ended up having too much money saved to get OSAP for school, but not enough to actually go to school and move away so worked some more. Now I'm unemployed and in year two of College and sooo bored! I need full time work stat to get me out of the house and feeling like a productive member of society again. I don't blame anyone and actually like that it happened this way because I probably would have dropped out of school if I went right away because I just really don't like the classroom setting.

Tuition fees are nothing compared to faith based education tuition.

There is a reason many Jews feel they need a high paying job and its not for luxury items.

Do they have the same attitude towards unions who use the dues that are supposed to go towards helping their members in advertizements and paying lobbyists? & I don't see how camping out in a city park will do anything other than prevent those who live in the neighbourhood from using their park.

I got a partial scholarship my first year in uni (would've been better if they'd covered the cost of my textbooks which were almost double tuition ), I spent the rest of my university career going to school 9-5 (with an hour commute each way) while working 3 jobs. I managed to graduate debt-free.

I am quite willing to bet that 99% of the "occupiers" don't have a real clue as to why they are there in the first place. it is "something to do" for them. Hey let's go camp out for a while, get on tv etc. We'll make up some signs that say absolutely nothing and then sit there and play our guitar, sing songs, smoke dope etc. etc.

IMO, these "Occupy" things are nothing but a waste of time. Do you see the US or Canadian governments paying ANY attention to them? No, of course you don't! There is no message that they should be listening to or anything!!!

I am 61 years old, went back to school at 59 in order to get work again. Chris is 38 and yeah, he still lives at home (what is up with that one poster here saying "Time to move into their parent's basement! *LOL* Where do you think Chris lives??????)... Does Chris blame the rich for his unemployment? NO!!!! There is something called the ECONOMY!!! Look overseas, Europe is going down the dumper and will pull all of us down with them.... Is this because of the "99%"??? NO it isn't!!!

Personally, I am happy to see the cities mayors etc. starting to give these people the boot. This is nothing more then trouble just waiting to happen (ie: the riots that happened in the USA, can't remember where... San Jose was it???). That is something that we don't need and will accomplish abosulutely nothing!!!!

If you don't like your government, then get off your butt and VOTE! Voter turnout in the last Ontario election and the last Federal election were at or near all time lows.... if you don't vote then you are not allowed to b***!!!

I will steop off my soap box now, y'all have a lovely day now ya hear???
    Is it baseball season yet?

LOL I still live at home and that will be the difference between me being debt free when I finish school, and being potentially $50,000 in debt. Debt scares me so this is a much better option and it means that I may actually be able to buy a small place in the next few years. I know it's not the ideal situation, since most of my friends are already living on their own with several kids, but it has so far worked for me and I don't want kids...yet

Sorry I don't know how to use the multi-quote thing, so I'll just respond to your thoughtful comments..

Protesting against banks/big business doesn't mean that unions are free from guilt. I have my own thoughts about unions, living in a one-industry town which employs a great many people, and it isn't pretty.

I get so ... I don't know ... angry at the apathy people have about what's going on around them. It seems we're all just zombies, being led around by those in power who have no disregard for people who are trying to make a go of life, but feel helpless. At least it's a start and they're doing SOMETHING.

I don't understand why this discussion seems to revolve around university graduates. Not everyone has the gift other have of being able to acheive high grades, but that doesn't make it any less important for them to find decent jobs.

Yes, camping out, singing Kumbia isn't going to change the world, but at least someone has noticed that just perhaps the odds are stacked against the regular "Joe" and that dishing out hundreds of thousands of dollars in severance to CEOs or government employees who have made a mess of their organizations and OUR government is simply not to be tolerated.

Change is made by small steps. Yes, this will probably fizzle out....but even if they lost the battle, the war may still continue...

And like you....I respect everyone's opinion...even if they're wrong... JK!!!

As rag-tag as the protesters are, they are being financially backed by a lot of left wing organizations. The movement is just out there to cause chaos and distractions. When the movement seems to be fizzling out, that's when they will be most dangerous.

My guess is that political assassinations aren't far off for them. That also includes danger for those on the left-wing, because they see a lot of democrats as traitors to their cause.

Very dangerous times we are entering.
