Not quite the weekend I had planned, this was my last weekend off before shut down as we are on inventory this weekend (hoping to get it done Saturday and be done so we get Sunday off otherwise we work 11 day straight). So I had hoped to get a lot of stuff taken care of, well that went out the window when I woke up Friday with some stomach bug. It was the weirdest bug I have ever had when I was sick I felt fine was just sick, then all of a sudden I started to feel worse but wasn't sick just felt awful. Needless to say not a lot got done this weekend as I had a serious lack of ambition going as well as those lovely body aches that come with being sick.
Before I got sick on Thursday went out to dinner with Mom and bro and found out my sis was in a car accident Wednesday. She is fine but her brand new car not so much. Talked to her Thursday night to make sure she really was ok (sometimes boys leave out details, like my other bro just forgetting to tell me all together).
Well it is Monday, time to get back to work, have a great day everyone.

Today's projects:
Gluten free lasagna and/or gluten free pecan pie
Organize for the week
Bring cookies to neighbour
Ladies Christmas Party at the church
DH's day off has since switched from Thursdays to Mondays. Nice to have him home, we are still recalibrating to the new schedule though. Thursday provided a pause, Monday is more like a crash after busyness and gear up to get back at it."There are more important things--friendship and bravery...."

Good morning! Back to the work grind. Not quite done my Christmas shopping since we had a fun day on Saturday instead. Went for a drive to Orillia for free breakfast and dinner and free afternoon show at the casino. Yesterday did some grocery shopping but didn't need/get much. Also went to SDM to finally redeem $170. Wanted to go last weekend since I was getting a camera for DS and it was the extra redemption amount but didn't make it. All worked out, camera was $20 cheaper this week and guy took extra $10 off since it was the last one. Stocked up on chips/smartfood/tostitos for holiday. Electric toothbrush for me. Cologne set for my teen. Cheese, milk, cream, lipstick, tampons and a few other things. Happy to have the few gifts
Will grab the last few things I need this week and make Friday or Sat night wrapping night.
We had a wonderful steak dinner last night with baked potatoes, mushrooms, onions and green beans. It was so good and usually I am not a huge fan of steak.

@Crochetlady that was a very nice gesture with respect to your neighbours family, touching indeed
@walkonby grad the sales while they are available. I find the clementines are hit and miss around, here got 1 boxes that was fantastic and then the next was dried out and tasteless (shrug).2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

@Crochetlady - I'm sorry to read about the loss of your neighbour and his mother. For your neighbour, someone found him in his time of need and got him help to the hospital. That is worth remembering-he was not alone when he passed away.
You and DH will figure out how to remember your neighbour's friendship over the years. Good to know that his kin visited with you and DH too-thoughtfulness.
Later this month, do something special for yourself. You are so worth it!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Does anyone zest their orange peels and freeze the zest with some juice in ice cube trays? I do that for lemons as routine but not as often for oranges as I don't eat them. I was not able to do any baking on Saturday but did dishwashing as Mom was cooking and baking.

Ciel, I grate zest, dry it out, and freeze it in little bottles to use in baking.
There is one type of cookie I make for Christmas which uses candied orange peel, so I plan to eat a few oranges the few days before I make those, lol!
Just put beef strips in the oven to start tenderizing, will go soon to cut up veggies and such to add to what will be a stew.

Dh has been busy campaigning. We have a provincial election on April 4 and he is one of the candidates. I'm his campaign secretary. I'm attending meetings, organizing meetings, making phone calls, arranging a fundraiser, etc. I had a casual meeting today and received a small donation and was invited to ask again in the new year.
I had a frustrating experience earlier today when I was doing a variety of errands with all 3 of our young children. The siding on our property was finally replaced last week, this had been damaged by hail in July 2013. It turns out that the construction company only accepts payment via cheque or cash, and I had neither. I wish they had told me instead of wasting my time. I got the cash from the bank and the business closed for lunch. Dh will pay them before he goes to work tomorrow.Help me out with Swagbucks and we can both earn gift cards and PayPal money

DH and I ventured out to FreshCo today and picked up 2 more boxes of clementines ( $3.97 ) fingers crossed they are both sweet.
Also PM'd the lemons @ 5/$1.00 from Skyland! ( bargain!) and grabbed a bag of 5 fruit medley ( dried ) to make my own batch of mincemeat.
Calculated that 1 bag had many of the ingredients I needed and was just $3.99 so I figured saves me searching out currants and all the other things separate.
Actually the smell is awesome ( I finished making it about 1/2 hr ago ). probably the Spiced rum I added!
Oh! also I found 3 lovely storage glass jars ( the kind with the clasp and rubber seals were all like new! ) at the Value Village today for just .69 each! Plus today was 40% off on dishes, glassware.....sometimes these things are just sitting on the shelf waiting for you to find them.
