Thread: Decluttering in 2016!
-
Thu, Jan 21st, 2016, 03:05 PM #1
I am determined to declutter our home this year. Our unfinished basement is overrun with "stuff".
We have a problem! My finance has boxes and totes and piles of things, that he has a hard time sorting through. I'm trying to convince him if we declutter his things and organize it will be so much easy on him.
I'm not innocent either. I have more clothes and shoes that have sat in my closet forever and have never been worn. The babys clothes are out of hand. Our office is a disaster,
It's time to purge!
Who's with me?
I'm starting this thread for motivation. For tips and tricks to make this process either. For general organizational talk!

I will cheer loudly from the sidelines for you @wimbly11
I just do not have the gumption to start anything on my own, in the past it has always been me who has initiated and done all of our declutterings, however, I have no more upper body strength and weak knees ( and now pinched nerve ) gah!!
but Lord knows it is something we need to tackle too!
I keep telling myself that when DH retires in 2...or 3 yrs ( fingers crossed! ) then I can have his undivided attention and support to start.
Best of luck!!

i always have a box on the go for value village and in the past every time i dropped things off i would always end up buying things to take back home. now my goal is to drop off and come home with nothing but good feelings from the purge/good deed.

Started boxes last night, one to donate, one to try and sell. Organized two bins of baby's clothes into sizes.
Hauled one bin of finances things upstairs and told him he needs to start on it tonight. He looks skeptical. But I need his help with his things because I can't sort his paperwork etc. How do I motivate him? lol He would rather spend his free time watching Netflix. We need downtime but we need to get this moving. We moved almost two years ago and he has boxes he never unpacked. Boxes that he just threw everything into and they are in the basement taking up space and collecting dust.
He came home from driving my step daughter to dance last night and I was into my closet, sorting and throwing things away. He couldn't understand why I wanted to declutter 10:00 at night lol

i had to do it at mom's so i postponed mine and have now lots and lots of boxes of work to do
+ i imported some of my mom's boxes....but listed everyting in them....but still need to throw some as i wan't to keep our things at the minimum....
you know we learn a lesson when we need to do this for someone else....Thank's to DH who told me the grumpy Garfield was not at all representative of who i am

I'm going to make a goal list for the weekend. Nothing too ambitious as we have so much else happening, but perhaps we can get a few things done at a time. It will all make a difference!
