@Granger : That is very kind of you. If DH can get away with it, he will be renting a light grey suit. I think suits of that colour are more limited in use than a black or dark grey.
Yes, the "custom tailor" made me lose my breath for several moments.
@Crochetlady : Thank you for letting us know. She's certainly missed and I really hope she gets back soon.
@Angela273 : I hope your SIL's condition improves soon. Congratulations on being an aunt of twins!

Ang...
Congrats on the twins and hugs and prayers for your SIL.
@sweet sparrow well no luck on the other coupon but I do have a $40 off tux rental at Moores if you want. It is good for the whole wedding party. i.e. each rental is $40 off. Coupon expires Sept. 30, 2016. But I think can be used at the time of "booking."Last edited by Granger; Thu, May 26th, 2016 at 08:42 AM.

I just glanced at the registry of the happy couple who have been engaged for a decade. Besides the usual ($450 juicer, $80 decorative pillows, etc.) they seem to have registered for five 16-piece place settings in cutlery and dishes, three hand blenders - two the same but different colours (all over $120), two coffee grinders, two french presses, two kettles, .... I am confused.
I think I need to step back and take a breath. They've registered for four bags of $22 cupcake mix, $30 waffle mix, $35 salt and pepper to put in their $140 salt and pepper grinders, and $22 pizza mix, among many others. There's also things like a $60 cookbook holder, $50 honey pot, and $70 oil container. It's porcelain and French. Perhaps I've spent too much time in the frugal world?

sweet sparrow, you don't need to buy off the registry - just choose a gift you think they might like and suits your budget.
And those multiples do sound odd...

Good morning, everyone.
Off to see my Mom (appt with the specialist today - finally!!! - got bumped twice now, sigh). Life has been busy, but trying to have fun and keep sane. Highlight of the weekend was taking Quincy cat to the patio of the local pub - made lots of people smile, staff & patrons made a fuss over him, even one of the managers came over and said "That's what I like to see - a cool cat on the patio!"At one point, my leg fell asleep from the way he was sitting in my lap (he started off in his purse, then came out & snuggled with me), so I stood up & left him lounging on my chair. Friends I was with started laughing, then let me in on the joke - there was a line up of folks waiting for a spot on the patio & here was a cat with a chair to himself.
Better get going.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Thursday finally! The work week is almost over woohoo!! I have a busy day ahead of me and stuff that has to be finished today.
It is overcast here so hopefully it just rains and gets it over with.
Have a great day everyone.

@Natalka : Oh, if I were only the person in charge of choosing the gift.
If it were up to me, their gift would probably depend on the cost of DH's suit. If it's very extravagant as is the registries, I don't think there will be much left with me out of work next year and a family of four.
The couple seemed to have registered at two different places, for two similar registries. Except for at the Bay, where they registered for five boxed dish sets.

With regard to weddings-we are attending my husbands nephews wedding in Illinois in August. I suppose there is the cost of getting there, but we go every year or two anyway to visit extended family. They had a registry at Kohl's so we decided to spend max $200 and ordered several small kitchen appliances/items they had marked, that were also sale priced-and got an additional 15 or 30%( can't remember) off for using my Kohl card just by asking. Plus they delivered them to their home free of charge. I was motivated to shop early as we are travelling in July, but also so we would have a good selection of things they want-they had another registry at Macy's or somewhere more expensive so I went with where we could get the most bang for our buck.
I think if say your budget is only $50 for a gift, buying a gift card to a restaurant the couple likes or a different type of gift card is completely fine.
Angela-congrats on your new niece and nephew and hope your SIL recovers soon.
Crochet Lady-hope you are back soon.Last edited by lizzie bargain; Thu, May 26th, 2016 at 10:30 AM.

You should have seen the cost of the waffle maker! Funny, but I thought a couple that had been together for almost 12 years would have most of the things on any registry.
DH said they must be planning on buying a bigger place. I don't think they could afford one considering their tastes, but living at home for a decade probably saves a lot.

Just saved $42.68. Booked hotel room for 2 night in July for an away tournament. Saved 15% if I paid now
