A recall is in effect for certain Cuisinart food processor models due to a laceration hazard involving the blades.
Cuisinart is recalling 8 million food processors with riveted blades, including 300,000 in Canada, after Conair received dozens of complaints from consumers finding broken pieces of the blade in processed food.
In a statement posted on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website, the food processors’ riveted blades can crack over time and “small, metal pieces of the blade can break off into the processed food,” posing a laceration hazard.
The specific blades have four rivets located near the centre and are silver-coloured stainless steel. The blades are connected to a beige plastic centre hub.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in conjunction with Health Canada, is telling consumers to immediately stop using the food processor’s riveted blade immediately and contact the company for a free replacement blade.
The recall applies only to food processors with the following model numbers:
- CFP-9, CFP 11
- DFP-7, DFP-11, DFP-14
- DLC-5, DLC-7, DLC-8, DLC-10, DLC-XP, DLC-2007, DLC-2009, DLC-2011, DLC-2014, DLC-3011, DLC-3014
- EV-7, EV-10, EV-11, EV-14
- KFP-7
- MP-14
Model numbers are located on the bottom of the food processor along with the Cuisinart logo.
Conair, the maker of Cuisinart, has received 69 reports of consumers finding broken pieces of the blades in their food including 30 reports of mouth lacerations or tooth injuries.
The food processors were sold anytime between July 1996 and December 2015 in various department stores, gourmet and specialty food stores and on various websites.

Thanks you so much for posting. I just checked my Cuisinart and it is in fact included in the recall. After inspecting the blade there is in fact some spots where it looks like pieces of metal have come off. Yikes!!
