The ones I looked at show 95 AMs gets $10.

In BC it's only Shell and RONA.

Works out to $0.105/AM

Gift Cards work out to $0.1143 which is more than 10% better. (There are 2 GCs at $0.125 & $0.133 which are almost 25% - 32% better).

Also, with the Gift Cards you have more choice.

IMO the new offer is a lousy one and I'll stick with what I've been doing such as the air flight I booked for my mother-in-law this morning that came in close to $0.20/AM or 100% better.

Gift cards at least give $0.1143/AM

Gift Cards and Certificates will be phased out over time and replaced by this new program feature.
It is just another way to reduce the conversion rate.

Read a report in the Globe & Mail last summer that said right now there are enough AirMiles and AeroPlan points out there to fill every seat on every airplane around the world for 3 years.

This is the reason they're trying to force people to use them up.

Good grief I don't look on here in a few days and look at all the new stuff happening. I am not impressed with the new change.

I just odered some GCs from airmiles.ca and then I saw they have a notice saying "Please note we can no longer deliver rewards by December 24th."
What does this mean? Am I going to receive my GCs from them?

It means that if you were ordering for Christmas to give as gifts then you won't receive your gift cards in time for Christmas... that is unless your pre-ordering for Christmas 2012
