I'll post the screen grab of the deal because I thought the offer was quite generous from Shell. It says that you may purchase non fuel items as well including GC's apparently as long as the purchase is over $50.00 before taxes, you save 10% on your Mastercard bill.

It does (in one small spot) say it does included non-fuel purchases. But it's not specific and doesnt include nor exclude any items (eg. Gift cards, lotto, tobacco, dairy, etc)


HOWEVER... I will (again) caution anyone reading about this:

MANY Shell Gas Stations are attached to independent convenience stores. They have Shell signs, POP's and other promo's posted, however, they dont qualify as a Shell Convenience Store -- so be VERY wary about this. (I've ranted about this before on this site)

Shell provides these stores a point-of-sale system, however their credit-card fees are often higher than the store's independent system. That said, these SAME stores will often ring-through purchases through their own point-of-sale, EVEN purchases for Shell branded items, including Gift Cards, and Shell never sees the transaction. The only transactions they have to process through the Shell POS are those using Shell branded credit cards, Shell gift card (payments), and AirMiles cash redemeptions.

That means that anything you THINK you're getting through Shell, you may not be. -- This includes GAS purchases... and unless your MasterCard goes through the Shell POS.. you wont see your 10% discount.

All that said, you MAY actually be visiting a Shell-owned convenience store... and if that's the case, the above doesnt apply.

Also worthy to note: These types of independently owned convenience store locations that also have pay-at-the-pump also go through the Shell POS, so presuming your purchase is all fuel, then you're good. But I seldom let my tank go empty enough to be pumping $50 in to it all at once.

This is now OVER! They just cancelled it this morning, October 8, 2019, 10AM!!

Do NOT buy anymore if you're looking for the 10% statement credit!

(A lot of people elsewhere were snapping up gc by the hundreds/1000's of dollars...wish I had, but I couldn't get any Shell gc which I was after...sob!)
