You all must know I have anemia by now, I complain all the time (
) but not many of you know it's gotten worse, much worse. I'm so out of breath to do anything, and with my hemoglobin levels, I should be in a coma (a friends dad had 3 points higher then me, and was in one, just the other month)
They also SHOULD have given me a blood transfusion, but it was never done although we suggested it after getting NOTHING from them, other then more needles in my stupid nerves {that made my arm limp for the rest of the day}
I have to go for blood tests tomorrow, because they think the anemia has progressed and turned into either kidney disease, or leukemia. {they're also testing for liver disease and jaundice, and my hemoglobin levels, of course}
They know it's SOMETHING. I get migraines daily, and have given up not taking any pain killers to 'let it pass' because it never does. I'm stone cold every day/all day.
So.. I get the blood taken tomorrow and the results sometime next week. I'm real scared.. all the signs right now are pointing to leukemia.
I'm scared of the results :/This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by Brandy Hunter; Tue, Feb 7th, 2012 at 09:18 PM.

Aww sweety, I'm so sorry to read this.
I suffered from severe anemia for a number of years & went stupid with any foods I could that were recommended (and I still actually like spinach) along with taking slow-fe twice a day for a few months.
I sincerely hope that it's not as serious as it may seem or feel, and they can help you get things back on track.

I love spinach! I been drinking almond milk because it has 50% daily value of b12, but oh-my-gosh after a while it gets GROSS lol. I tried adding cocoa and other things, but it's still icky. I actually started eating fish (ick) just because my b12 too, at least a few times a week. Beef and cheese too, almost daily.
But thank you for your prayers/thoughts.. I appreciate it

Aww hun. Don't get yourself all worked up until we know what's wrong. It could very well be nothing serious. Just take it easy, get lots of rest and eat all the foods they tell you to and we'll keep our fingers crossed that you'll be okay. *hugs*

Don't worry so much. I'm anemic (low red blood cell count) and they can't find out why. Had every test in the book. I eat a very balanced diet so some people just can't get what they need from food. Now I'm on a multi vitamin, ferrous gluconate, B100 slow release complex, and others. I am feeling much better even though actual iron levels were fine, B12 was fine, etc. No reason for the anemia, but supplements help. I"m still frozen a lot of the time and have a space heater on my legs under my desk at the moment.

I've been anemic since I was 2. I've had a few blood transfusions and have been quite sick because of it. I still don't have as much energy as I should and am out of breath easily but getting better.
Have they tried B12 shots? When my anemia kept getting worse, the doctors decided to try this and it has worked better than anything else. Eating the healthy balanced died isn't enough for me so I have those every couple weeks and take iron pills daily. Being anemic is tricky as everyone is different, it takes a while to find the right mix of things that work for you.
Sending thoughts and Prayers!

I hope everything will be okay with you. I also have very low iron, not quite anemic but spent years having no energy and having to take naps during the day. I also had frequent migraines, and still do occasionally. I was finally put on an iron supplement and that helped a lot. My oldest daughter was just diagnosed as having low iron as well.

CanadianBella, easier said than done BUT: Don't worry until you have something to worry about. The waiting game SUCKS and you just want an answer to why you're feeling the way you are and why your body is doing the things it's doing but stressing over it won't get you anywhere, so why bother? You will most definately be in thought & prayer!

Bella, sorry you continue to battle with anemia...as you may recall, I have pernicious anemia and have also had those shots, but since I don't have the intrinsic factor to absorb B12 during digestion, I could eat all the iron-rich foods I could stuff down, and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. I have to melt a B12 tablet or a "melt-strip" to get enough...Have you or others here been tested for whether or not you can even absorb B12 during digestion?
I hope you get the help you need, Hon...
