Sunday night on a long weekend is the best time to go shopping!

Dh and I went to WM and RCSS since they both have underground parking and are right next to each other. Just needed a few things to finish my pantry reorganization so we grabbed some garlic pills, corn, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes and olives. Saw they had McCain hash browns on sale so I grabbed 2 and 1 bag on non name fries.

Our pantry is completely done and it took us 3 hours! Everything was removed out of the room, racking cleaned, floors vacuumed and washed and everything organized perfectly. Great part was there was literally nothing that needed to be thrown out which I’m
    proud of.

ty @cath007 for starting the new thread up, my plans atm are not very exciting. Turning the NHL wall calendar over to a new page.....why hello Mitch Marner!

I was admiring the savings that you listed @Angela273 , regular redeeming values for me come from AM and PC Optimum points. There is the odd FPC, but coupons for the most part are not on my radar much anymore.

Your 3 hour effort ( @harbie ) getting your pantry restocked was quite impressive, reminding me that I should clear out a few packaged/dry items from our stockroom, some that DD left here when she moved out and I know I'll probably never use.

Thanks cath for starting august thread .

Yesterday i went to local zarkys and bought buns ,luncheon meat ,of course we had ashlyn sleep over and she wanted cookies so a splurge .We were suppose to go to a conservation park today for lunch with a variety of my daughter-in-laws family and now it is cancelled as cara has a fever (i swear that little one gets sick so much ).
My son thinks she picked it up during day camp which she was in 3 days last week (why do people or kids go places sick uggg)No civid as they tested her but she just got over medication for an infection ,so maybe her immune system was a little down.

So relaxing til we take ashlyn home later ,my girlfriend dropped in yesterday for a visit .I gave her a small wooden patio set for her son (was daughter's and we didnt need it) and a few nice used clothing from cara and sebastian for her grandkids.

Angela it amazes me when you said you buy everything used for your kids, what a saver in life.I grew up on thrift stores(hense why i love thrift shopping ) and my mom sewed a lot of clothing for me to make ends meet as my dad was sick and not working.

I truly wish my daughter-in-law would spend less on clothing for the girls, then it would free up a bit more money.I got a new top for ashlyn from old navy for $1.53 last month cant beat that price .

    Everone have a good day.

I’m optimistic that the new high dose medication is working. I took the antihistamine at 8am yesterday. I also took the new medication when I ate breakfast. I usually need the second antihistamine dose in the afternoon. I think the new medication is working. Some of the spots aren’t looking so red this morning. It is promising.

@coupon girl I try to buy all clothing for our family second hand. It’s harder to buy used winter clothes, winter boots, gymnastics body suits, etc. I was happy when I managed to buy shorts for myself, jeans and a nice shirt for dh, along with kids clothes on the same shopping trip for a grand total of $15. I even bought the new to us popcorn maker for $8. I picked up free towels and a blender from two different people in town.

Appreciate the new monthly thread you started, @cath007 ! You had asked about planners to use for school. Colleges usually have a stack of spiral planners near Registrar's office or Student Life dept--might be hard to find later. IF you only need a 1 inch square for each day's notes, check Michaels in the racks near cash for sale ones or look to see if Staples has any spiral ones (agenda style ones) you want (the 16month ones tend to be pricier than 12month ones). I usually get the narrow chequebook looking Brownline 30 day monthly calendars with a little cover on the book-just enough space for adding short notes, expenses plus a few pages at back for phone numbers, dates, notes. No spiral. Sometimes I get the Brownline or Blueline ones in the $8 range. Very hard to get under $6 now at Staples. But check online to see what your local store might have or look for online deals.

A way to maybe find a free spiral planner-if there's a local university, wait until Sept and see if their Student Life dept/Student Association office puts some extra copies outside of their office for anyone to pick up. I used to get ones from McMaster University this way after orientation weeks were over when I was walking in the area. It was also a great way to get store names and telephone numbers and look at what kinds of clubs were on campus, in case there were talks or movies of interest to me! Most of the book was not needed by me and their pages had wider pages with notebook lines for more notes. Maybe you know someone going to university who can get you a planner?

Most student portals online have a calendar (Google) of some kind to fill in and ways for you to indicate availability or not for group work, appts, etc. That way, anyone at your school using the e-mail system can see your calendar (if you make it public) and know when you are at school/available etc. However, there's no free printing. You have to put funds on the electronic student card and weekends at libraries are fun when there might not be enough or no staff to refill the paper trays, fix jams or change the ink/toner cartridges! Or the card won't work...grr.

If you have outlet surplus stores, Winners or Dollar Stores, check what is available on their clearance racks or in stationery aisles for school planners or 2022-2023 agendas. Or you can make your own planner with a spiral notebook and mark pages for each school day or week and make the daily spaces as large or small as you like!

Well, I have to see how I can manage to make the money last a bit longer in the month. Need to make a comprehensive list and whittle it down gradually. Have to focus on me and not always on household needs-constant budget issue that contributes to running out of cash by mid-month so often. I may have to consider getting some underwear on sale soon and avoid online shopping if possible. Not seeing much that suits what is on my list (and that includes those Youtube videos for Zara, H&M, and Mango stores in Europe!).

I waited until mid-afternoon as winds picked up to feed my bank account, add an extra bus fare for tomorrow (and I have a touch more $that could work towards a 4th fare if necessary as Presto will wait for me on next load to get "paid back" as has happened about 3x this year), and get two cold drinks and groceries (plus the gauze pads as the desired Skin Flex ones won't last long). The discounted No Name wipes (4 cans) were long gone from clearance rack. My plan was to get 3 items at Fortinos then I remembered a few things I ate of Bro's so I got similar items and his bread, my items plus some reduced price celery. Wish I had brought the ingredient list for that napa salad I posted last night. Next time!

Have almost everything packed for tomorrow's donation to Hamilton charity that provides clothing and household/food supplies. Will see if I can donate some cash online tonight.

To ensure that the celery gets eaten, I intend to wash and slice sticks tonight and prep the cucumber and radishes so they are ready to be used in a salad or for snacking. Mom has a few rubbery carrots that I will prep too so they don't go to waste.

I simply hope I have enough energy to get through tomorrow morning and afternoon without a nap and make it home before suppertime. Plan is to hang out in a cold store or mall after downtown stop and wait some time out before my planned visit in other city. Will pack my tote bag tonight so I stand a 75% chance of getting out the door to beat the heat in the morning and get to first destination soon after the place opens!

Had hot dogs and sausage buns with Diet Pepsi for supper tonight. Will likely have hot dogs in morning as they are quick to prepare and take a few celery sticks for salt in my tote.

This heat needs to find a group of sharks to jump!

Random topic-news item this week that Hershey won't have enough Halloween treats this year. My thoughts-I am certain many people are likely going to trim that item out of their plans and make something fun and non-food related to compensate. I don't know if there are stickers on sale this month that treat givers can look for as a MacGyver option to replace sweets for handing out? Usually those clothing and bag labels are the main focus for back to school. I have not looked at craft aisles to see what the going rate for themed sticker pages is.

The only coupon pad I saw was in the tea/coffee aisle. 1860 or something branded item. Did not collect it.

Did spot a battery recycling bin at the east entrance of Fortinos! It keeps appearing and disappearing. I have batteries to dispose but it might be easier to do that at Lowes as I intend to visit GT and Value Village this week one evening.

It's finally raining (regular rain) right now! YAY.

Extended family member and spouse sold their house in June. Only now (thanks, Google) am I seeing the listing and some archived posts about the sale (and the Youtube video!). I looked all through late spring and summer for their possible listing when I heard they were considering moving. Most of what they did looked great but like most older home owners, they did not bother to spruce up or make nice the basement area which sadly looked like a low ceiling garage room. Could have had potential for custom neon sign and spray painting all the storage racks one same vivid colour to give room a gym or club vibe. Am envious of their butcher block countertop in the kitchen-don't see that very often!

Now I'll have to white-out their address on the baby gift mailing box that I have on hand should they announce they are expecting a little one!
