I get cheap cuts of organ meat (liver, heart, etc) & pan fry it for my brats. I've also made salmon cookies for my neighbour's cats (Quincy will play with them, then hide them....good thing Lily dog finds & eats his "toys"). My guys get treats daily, but I'm evil & make them work for a living. No high-5, no treat.

I don't like the processed carb laden, chemicalized treats BUT when I'm trimming fat off my meat, they're usually lined up waiting for their tidbit. . .and if I'm a little too slow about it, I get a couple of taps on the leg to hurry it up. LOL
Of course they get mostly meat in their homemade diet, but they still think it's more "special " if they get stuff when I'm cooking. I also give them little bits of leftover cereal bowl milk or their favourite . . .a tsp of fish oil!

fish and scrambled eggs are what my felines like as treats. They get fish once a week and eggs about once a fortnight.

My cats have no idea that there are treats. I'm always really scared about giving them anything unhealthy because I want them to live forever. They get excited for their meals though or whenever I open a can (They are hoping it's salmon because I give them the oil.) One of them likes green veggies, so she always get a leaf of lettuce or spinach when I'm washing it.

I am going to be a rebel and say mine get treats and I don't care what you think lmao lol they sometimes get some at lunch but ALWAYS before bed and they love me for it. These poor people who do give treats are probally scared to post I didn't realize we should have such prissy cats lmao. Sorry don't mean to offend but the way I am reading these posts makes it sound like anyone who feeds their cats treats are terriable owners ; )

also wanted to post this just in case ; )
Once cats mature, many become lactose intolerant. This makes cow's milk a poor choice to use as a treat for your cat. Milk can cause your pet to have stomach ailments and indigestion since they are not used to it. In some cases milk can actually make your cat very ill and cause vomiting and/or diarrhea.

I don't think it's a bad thing! Years and years ago, I would buy treats - one cat would like, another one wouldn't. Then we had two or three which didn't like them at all - any kind, any brand - and I ended up always giving them away. So I've just stopped buying them.
Sometimes I think it would be SO nice to have something like that to be a bribe, lol!

Mine get people food for treats. Like Natalka's kitties, mine are very, very finnicky when it comes to treats and often turn up their little noses at them. I've had some luck with greenies brand, but it's hit-and-miss.
Sprinkles used to be eager for bagged treats, but then I exploited that by using treats to disguise her pills (she has a thyroid condition), so now she won't eat them at all! Her favourite treats are strawberries, blueberries, and the seedy middle part of english cucumbers. She will occasionally be interested in the water from a tuna can as well.
Sherry is a bit different. She loves raw fat from meat trimmings (mostly pork) and fish skin, especially if it's been grilled and is crispy. She also looooves buttered popcorn, but one piece is usually enough to satisfy her. She will also do tuna water and DH treats her on weekend mornings with a tiny bit of milk (a few teaspoons worth) and the dregs of his bowl of raisin bran - she loves the malty flavour of the bran flakes and will only touch the milk if there are bran flakes in it - no other cereal and no plain milk for this picky kitty!
The weird thing is that both cats don't like poultry or beef... just pork and fish.
I don't have too many rules for treats - if they sit nicely and wait for it they can have it, provided they haven't already had too many goodies that day (nobody likes a kitty with a tummy ache!). My only hard and fast rule is that under NO circumstances will the pets be given treats while I'm sitting at the kitchen table (this eliminates begging during meals). The cats have learned this and will sometimes beg when I'm making supper, disappear and then magically emerge when I'm tidying up - they are good at making themselves scarce for the rest of suppertime

I give my old lady luv's moist turkey treats (only treats she likes) she just loves them. I to agree she is getting up there in age so she can have whatever she wants haha. She gets 5 treats every evening while we watch Coronation Street, then she gets a back rub.
As for Buttons, he is only 5. I don't really want to feed him those crappy treats. If I'm making chicken I will throw him a piece or last night I was making bf's sandwiches for work and I threw him a piece of pastrami to see if he liked it and he gobbled it right up.
