Happy Friday!! The weather app tells me snow over the next 48 hrs ...so not sure how far from home will get.
Will make the best of the weekend regardless. A nice bundled up walk near the water and then maybe a salad for lunch at the local sandwich/salad shop that we usually enjoy in summer but didn't make it to this past summer. (went one day but the line was moving slow and the price looked $$$$ so skipped it and went home for lunch lol) Sometimes you just have to splurge and enjoy the outing.
Starting the day off with coffee. Work through my work pile. Try and remember to eat something for breakfast before noon (I didn't eat till 3 yesterday!) Maybe toss a load of laundry on and hang to dry. Get stuff organized for a bank run. (have some cash to deposit and a few expense cheques) Trying to do this more often so stuff isn't hanging around.
Enjoy the weekend!Last edited by Frugalbigmama; Fri, Jan 24th, 2025 at 09:34 AM.

Good Morning Everyone,
UGH, sleep, I had about a week where my sleep was horrible, this week *knock on wood* seems to be better but now my body wants more so I have been sleeping. By sleeping in I mean getting up at 6 instead of 5 but this morning I slept in until 7 am so now I am feeling behind.
Had my monthly meeting with my boss, yep, lots going on but I knew some of it was coming with the move and some I had no idea but we will make it work.
I had to laugh we have someone new starting on Monday and I got the notification to train but due the positions I was not sure of my involvement, was told nope, just day 1 introduction and some small things here and there. I got a call Wednesday telling me I will have introduction Monday and then I will be training Wednesday, Thursday, Friday which made me laugh but all good. Plus today we decided to add a second person, so a lot of prep to be done but all good I am on it.
My plan was to not leave my house today, tomorrow or Sunday but I see Wal-Mart is showing Soya Sauce back in stock, do I run out and see if they have it. I am torn I really need to stock up on Soya Sauce but I don't want to get there to find the shelf empty again. Small Town living Wal-Mart is about 20 minutes away and I have no other reason to head to that area. Now I could risk it and wait till next week but do I risk it.
YAY!!!!!! Moment, I think I finally got my car to come out of power saving mode. Because my car sat waiting to go in for service it went into power saving mode and the message says "when you drive your car this feature will be disabled" nope literally every time I had started my car I was getting messages "you are in power saving mode, please drive your car to turn off power saving mode." It would not turn off and one day I got it 4 times, when I started my car at work, after the post office, after Giant Tiger and after No Frills, oh that night it randomly sent me a "reminder" yep it was slightly annoying me. Note to self never don't drive my car again for 14 days.
Time to focus and get stuff done but before that need to grab something to eat. Since I slept in I did not have time for breakfast before my first meeting and now I need to eat something before my next week.

@SassyAshley bwahaha!! I love the one way communication you had with your vehicle. Reminded me of the aggravation I have when dialogue from the tv triggers Alexa and she starts announcing " I don't know how to help you with that " . T.G.I.F. to you too!

The kids rolled in in the wee hours last night and are visiting for a week-they will be taking the naughty grand dog home with them.

I am consistently baffled how folks still believe dollar stores are good value. Every item I find in them, when compared on a pound-for-pound basis, is more expensive than stores like NoFrills or even RCSS.
My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

I'm very lucky that one of the local doller trees has a active fb page. The person who runs it , actually is someone I know. She highlights cheaper foods ect. . But it's rare.
And I agree with you. I buy very little at most doller stores.

Found a bag outside of RCSS with a fresh ham sandwich (still sealed), 2x bananas, and 2x 500mL cartons of chocolate milk. Must have been an abandoned bum care package for lunch, since all the best before dates were still well into the future. A nice meal for me, tomorrow.
Also, rescued 2x dozen med. eggs and 5x pounds of rice from the landfill.Last edited by HermanH; Sat, Jan 25th, 2025 at 03:27 AM.

I cannot remember the last time I shopped at Dollartree, I am not a fan of the one closest to me. It is dirty, unorganized and quite often I had found broke and damaged things on the shelves including broken glass. But it has been years maybe it is better now.
Although I find it interesting we do not have a Dollartree where I live, it is close to work but they have 1 Dollartree but they have I think 8 Dollaramas.
I do shop at Dollarama quite often there are a few cleaning supplies I pick up there (toilet tabs, febreeze, I know the febreeze is cheaper at Costco on sale but we do not like 2 of the scents in the Costco pack). I also grab a lot of my bullet journal supplier at Dollarama, they used to have the Bic markers which I love for a quarter of the price on Amazon.
Cannot say I buy many food items there but I can see where if you do not shop the sales it would benefit you. It is the same as Costco, if you are not shopping the sale it is a deal. But also I am sure some use it for convenience, instead of having to watch the sales they know they can also run into Dollarama and get Pasta for $1.25.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

I must say you must know your prices as a friend told me dollar tree had tetley tea really cheap and the cashier told me they flew off the shelves.
Plus some toys at dollarama are an excellent buy i got 2 ravensburger kids dinosaur puzzle for 5.00 at xmas in stores they are 14.99 to 17.99 100 piece puzzles .
Some socks are good quality too cheaper than retail, some beauty products also.
I also got a good quality bath mat for 5.00 at dollarama(rubber backed)
So dollarama and dollartree will get me in for some items .

Good Morning Everyone,
Yesterday was a good day, I got most of my work stuff done (I think all was a little unrealistic) but I did not get the house stuff done. I had hoped to knock out a few things so I had less to get done over the weekend but it didn't happen.
My plan for this weekend is try to get the house back up to the normal standard so hopefully in February I can get back to my weekly reset and some sort of routine. I have kept on top of the kitchen this month, doing the hand dishes daily, emptying the dishwasher when it was clean and having a clean kitchen each night. Now to get back on track with the rest.
Last night I reviewed my budget for 2025 to see if I wanted to reallocate any $$$$. Not much can be done on the fixed expenses (this one is becoming more and more of a challenge but made it work), I do have some wiggle room in our wants category but did not make any changes, but did change how I am allocating our savings.
Now to work on putting it all in my Budget Bullet Journal so I can track it each month.
Need to find my ambition and get moving.
