Morning! It is a damp gray rainy morning here.
Enjoying my coffee. I haven't bought a coffee out in a long while. I just don't enjoy it like my coffee at home so on the weekends when heading out I make one to go. DS bought me an amazing coffee maker and it takes less then 30 seconds to brew it so it is a time saver as well! At the moment we are stocked up on coffee beans (should get us to 2026) and coffee cream (till September) so life is good
I do enjoy a Starbucks Latte now and again. I use the app- My sister sent me a gift card a few weeks ago for a thank you for an upcoming house/dog sitting I am doing for them. I rarely go these days so it's a nice treat when I do. I do have to go redeem for a free one on Saturday since I have points expiring on June 1st! The good thing is I will be at the most expensive place in Ontario so perfect timing!
We are going to Blue Mountain tomorrow for the night
Joining my sister and BIL- He has a gig and they get a free room (2 bedroom!) so it is perfect! Joined them last summer as well and we had a fun time. The weather app is showing no rain!! Perfect!
Now to get my work list checked off.
Enjoy the day!

Good Morning Everyone,
AH!!!! A lovely work from home day, where I need to accomplish about 2 weeks of work in one day. I feel this is my new normal at least for the next little bit.
There is a BBQ today as one of our branches is closing today but between my to-do list and that I have 2 meetings, I am going to stay home. I sent them a well wishes email and will see them all next week when I go to train them in their new roles.
I worked in the office yesterday so I grocery shopped my way home, it was mostly produce but also I let some cinnamon buns tempt me and end up in my cart. But I figure if the worst that comes out of this insane time is I eat some my feeling by eating some Cinnamon Rolls, it is not that bad.
At Food Basics I got, mini cucumbers, a 4-pack of peppers, 2 x Raspberries, 2 x Butter and the Cinnamon Rolls which also I might also add were on sale, so win, win. Everything at Food Basics was on sale.
At No Frills I got, 2 x Butter, Mandarins, Apples 6lbs, Managos, Tomatoes on the Vine, 3 x Ground Chicken, Whole Wheat Tortillas, Raisin and Everything Bagels, all on sale. Then just because we needed it I grabbed Mushrooms, Sour Cream & Milk.
Grocery Shopping is done, now it is time to plan for next week, I will need to make a meal plan plus a prep list. But I am always happy when I go into the weekend with a full fridge.

This week I started a 5 week stint watching 2 little boys 3 and 5. They are lovely boys and I definitely think my step count is up! It is about 45 hrs per week-I have not worked FT since I retired 15 years ago. I find I only have time to eat, sleep, shower, commute and a bit of hockey and I am down for the count! Anyway I am putting the $ in my travel account.

TGIF!!!
This 4 day work week for me went by very quickly! Must book off a few more Monday's to have more 4 day work weeks
( I have always preferred having a Monday off then Friday)
The laundry I washed yesterday is dry so will get that put away this morning. Kitchen is pretty clean but will wash up the few dishes. I have a work shirt of DS's that I have been soaking in the sink since yesterday afternoon. I have changed the water so many times and you should see the dirt that pours out of it. It's kind of satisfying
Will toss it in the machine at some point today and hang it to dry. Next is his work pants!
No cooking tonight
We are going for dinner with the band tonight after their gig. DS has buns for hots and hamburgers. He also has chicken strips in the freezer. He will survive!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Figured I saved thousands of $$ early this morning. I went to the dealership the moment they opened and had them relace the bulb or fuse?
Whatever the part is that fixes the righthand turn signal. If anyone has ever experienced that moment when you " know the sound " as you turn
on your signal and instead of the regular speed of the click, click sound you hear a double time sound. Like a signal on steroids...lol
Coming home late last night from a Celebration of Life event we both recognized the sound. As we turned into our driveway we confirmed the signal
was not visible on the outside.
So how did this save us thousands? Imagine NOT fixing it right away AND a motorist traveling behind us does not know we are making a lane change
or exiting a ramp? We'd be side swiped or rear ended for sure. So there you have it.

Good Morning Everyone,
Happy Saturday, it is a slow start to the morning but that is to be expected after this week.
I did not get all my work done yesterday, I got a good amount done but when your trying to do 2+ weeks worth of work in 3 days well doing other things (covering for someone, training, meetings) it was a long shot. I think the worst part was the plan for next week keep changing so I thought I was doing well then they change the plan so back to square one, then it changed again so I spent most of the week not quite sure what was going on. I didn't actually get confirmation on what I was doing until almost 10 am yesterday.
Last night for dinner I used up some of the oddities out of my fridge, we had some extra pasta, some leftover broccoli and some mushrooms that needed to be used so I grabbed a Chicken Breast (I am out of chicken chunks, I missed the last Costco sale because there was no way I was going to Costco on a long weekend but I still have full breasts so I just need to cut them up when I go to cook) and a jar of Alfredo sauce and make a Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Bake.
I noticed when I was making my breakfast I have some strawberries I need to use up, thinking I will make crustless Strawberry Pie to use those up.
Need to figure out a meal plan for next week, I will have some office days but in different locations which makes it a bit more tricky. I have been spoiled by working in head office where we have multiple kitchens and I can meal prep and just put my prep in the fridge at work and we have dishes and everything so it just like eating at home.

Last night I had to take my 93 year old Mum to urgent care as she had scraped up her hand. They took really good care of her and she is looking better today-she keeps forgetting to eat though. Not a problem I ever envision having-lol.
We were in and out in 2 hrs which I thought was pretty good. We went to the urgent care in Cochrane West of town-it even had free parking! Urgent care in Calgary can be a bit of a gong show.Last edited by lizzie bargain; Sat, May 31st, 2025 at 02:30 PM.

Out the door at 12.00 to sons he wanted help with 2 scones put up outside his house .Hubby know the electrical stuff ,he doesnt .It took til 2.45 for them to finish ,hubby said it was hard to do as his house has siding not brick .
I went along and daughter-in-law and i cleaned up little miss cara's room .I came home with clothing that doesnt fit her, some turned into rags as they were stained ,some stuff animals a few play outfits .
Never ate lunch worked right thru so hubby and i were starving on the way home 3.45 p.m so picked up a small pizza.
Oh and i dont have a date for my knee replacement ,waiting to hear .I may call my doctor next week so see how long it takes.
I gave my wagon like new it was a radio flyer wooden one to the couple 2 doors over that just had a baby boy 4 months ago .I asked him if they would like it ,yes they said with a morgage and 2 older teens from a first marriage things are just so expensive .So glad i helped out instead of trying to sell it .Mind he wont use it til he is past 1 but still they stored it in the garage .
Lizzie good thing your mom is okay ,that sounds like a reasonable wait time.Last edited by coupon girl; Sat, May 31st, 2025 at 04:44 PM.
