    It's Friday!!!!

It rained all night and now we have sunshine and blue sky! Bring on the long weekend!

Today is hair washing/drying day! Will get stuff done this morning and then shower/get dressed for the day.

Had no plan for dinner last night. At 5pm I decided to make pasta. Had homemade sauce in the freezer. Dinner was ready at 545. Not bad for no plan.

Ok off to get this work day over with and then I am on vacation!!! 10 days off!!!

Wishing everyone a safe and fun long weekend!

    Go Leafs Go!

Thanks for the reminder @Arjon . I’ve been thinking about making my own especially since vegan mayo is costing $6.49-6.99 for a small jar . Man, I love YouTube and google.

A cautionary note about homemade mayo. Using unpasteurized eggs risks ingesting any bacteria they might carry. The risk is small but non-zero. Eggs can be home-pasteurized quite easily using a sous-vide stick, and also without one although doing so requires a fast-read thermometer and considerably more care and attention.

I have never made homemade Mayo but I can't remember if it was Youtube or somewhere else but I guess this person posts themselves making Mayo all of the time and someone said there does not always emulsify. The person said the trick is using an immersion blender and working from the bottom up, they said if you go from the top down the bottom portion does not emulsify.

I don't know why I have been cursed by the Milk Gods, but I spilt a glass of milk, while making lunch. What a mess.

My luck may be changing. The gas station gave me 7x sandwiches and a litre of expired choc milk. I forgot how refreshing it is to enjoy a beverage, while walking. (No, I did NOT spill it. )

RCSS had 2x 300g choc bunnies for $1 each and good until 12-2027. As well, there is Rooster-brand 1kg honey for $6

I don't normally eat honey, but I just can't pass up such a bargain.

    Very good price for honey.

I will admit to being very spoilt, my local area has about 5 different people/ places that are bee keepers. I get my honey 1x per year from them. It's more expensive, but soooo good.
I use 1- 2 tbsp honey good splash or 3 oF lemon with boining water... usually clears out my sore throat / lungs. Works great.

    Good Evening Everyone,
Last day in production, it was a busy day, the person transferring was back so watching them, plus trying to do my own work and I was getting slammed. There was one thing I could not get done today as I needed everyone logged out, so will have to tackle over the weekend as I did not get it done when I got home.

We had a BBQ at work today, it was nice although because we are mid-merge, mid-renos it was a bit weird but we made it work.

Last night on the way home from work I stopped at Food Basics and grabbed a few things, mostly produce, Strawberries, Zucchini, Portobellos, plus I grabbed more Fries and Almond Milk.

Then I needed to stop for Mom's pills but they weren't ready, they asked me to give them 5 minutes, I said no problem I will run to No Frills.

Went to No Frills and got Lemons, Butter, Earl Grey Tea and Mushrooms.

Decided at this point I was not cooking so I ordered pizza as it is in the same plaza as the pharmacy. I went back to the Pharmacy but they still weren't ready after waiting for 10 minutes I got the pills, grabbed the pizza and home I came.

Our kitchen is a disaster, I started cleaning it Wednesday but Mom told me to leave it she would take care of it, that did not happen. Then last night by the time we were done dinner I was done so tonight when I got home I tackled it, finished emptying the dishwasher, reloaded, hand dishes done as well sorted the groceries but will finish putting them away tomorrow, did not feel like climbing a ladder tonight or going downstairs, that can wait for tomorrow.

The plan for this weekend is to not leave my house and just see what I can get done.

    Happy Friday Everyone.

I find that apiarists are often very passionate about their craft. Do yours tell you about the variety of flowers for their production? Can you discern the differences?

    Good Morning Everyone,
A bit of a slow morning here.

It is funny how something that used to be so normal isn't so normal anymore. I used to work 6 to 4 and do Saturdays, that was life, now after doing a full week in office, I am feeling it.

Odd questions, but how do people commute? I don't mean the physical commute. I find I will get off work think " I am feeling good when I get home I will tackle this or do that," but by the time I get home after sitting in my car for 30 to 45 minutes I am done, all ambition is gone.

Slowly working on getting some random things done around the house.

My couch blanket did not get washed so it is in the washer now.

Realized I forgot to empty my lunch bag last night so I did that well I made Breakfast.

I need to tidy up my room there are clothes everywhere. Need to put aways the groceries that go in the upper cabinets. Need to clean out the fridge, I know there is going to be some food waste this week as I did not eat all of my lunches this week since we had a BBQ yesterday so I did not bring a lunch, plus one day I got lazy and took leftovers.

Realized last night I did not start my meal plan for this week so will need to do that tonight. Last night was dumplings and Fried Rice, feels like a take-out meal made at home. Lunches this week will be easy, it will be leftovers or sandwiches since I grabbed Sandwich meat at Costco since it was on sale. Thinking I might make a loaf of Raisin Bread for Breakfasts I can have with fruits or yogurt. Just need to focus on Dinner and Prep.

    Happy Saturday Everyone.

Good Saturday morning all and a happy long weekend to everyone.

It’s another rainy day here but Sunday is supposed to be nice and sunny. Fingers crossed.

Nothing exciting planned for today except the usual cleaning and organizing. We’re planning a super casual get together with the Family on Sunday so I’ll be making some macaroni salad, roasted potatoes and maybe some kind of sweet treat if I feel like it. I am planning to make some homemade pup treats for my brother and sill’s pup they recently adopted. I’ll probably just make treats for him and not the humans.

Deal of the day was 2 FREE Silk Nextmilk @$6.49 each . Used my FPC’s from their promo a while back. It was a bit of a hassle to try to explain to the cashier that I was indeed allowed to purchase 2 milks and use 1 coupon on each product

    Have a great weekend everyone.

I completely get it @SassyAshley . By the time I get home (about an hour or more) I’m done. Luckily I don’t have those kind of commutes 5 days a week.

Happy Saturday to you Sassy and the SC community!
    Thanks @harbie !
Going to be good weekend for gardeners, as rain has been by twice on humid days but kind of cool nights. Garden centres will be open Monday until4 or 5 pm, but not most grocery stores, so check hours before any Monday shopping. Shoppers Drug Mart usually does 10-6 hours on stat days.
Had hoped to see a text Tuesday 20% offer but instead Shoppers has a Monday to Wed bonus pts offer for $75 spend. Too rich for me. Will have to check if the tape is on sale as I will need it by Tuesday. Nice to see a 4 gift card offer for $100 spend at Shoppers. Think one store had Ikea gcs on promo last month. Google Play-second time this year?
I bought the Taco Bell chipotle sauce with another product for points three weeks ago. Not a huge fan of the sauce but it works on sliced bread when I need a snack.
Feel like a genius for buying two Heinz picnic packs two weeks ago at Walmart. Relish all consumed and have ketchup and mustard left. I am seeing $5+ pricing in flyers this week for the condiment picnic packs.

@lilo0003 Check to see if your local Rotary Club has a can drive coming up soon or just find someone connected to the Little League, as I recall seeing and adult and two sons return 2 big bags of empties collected from the ball diamonds when our beer store was still in business. Or Facebook for any other group collecting locally. A Routes Youth centre doing its semi annual scrap metal drive in Dundas next weekend also takes cans so that is another option to find in your town or a neighbour who is volunteering? It is so wonderful that you have a strategy for the empty containers!

@Frugalbigmama thanks for the sunscreen pricing at Dollarama. Willing to try that option. Noticed name brands in grocery flyers are 10.99+even if on sale, Sobeys has its Compliments line at 9.99 but Shoppers is showing weekend sale up to 30% off on certain brands. A smaller bottle just to have on hand is best. I only used the Aveeno tube from last year twice before tossing it out last month and chucked another container also barely used but expired.

Price creep on food and household products means always checking for discontinued items in clearance for things.

@HermanH the chocolate milk and sandwiches score, super! Yes, a reusable bag on the ground comes in handy! Been doing that as well.

I picked up the LCBO food and Drink issue two days ago but did not know Longos had its Summer issue out. Flyer says magazine is instore, which contradicts what I was told about Spring issue by staff. I had popped into Starbucks at Longos to get a treat and did not explore the store. My mistake. I was hot from the heat and was using my bus transfer after bank stop to make these visits. I did wear my cotton scarf from Giant Tiger!

Now it's very windy outside. Seemed like it was raining.

Yesterday afternoon was perfect for line drying bedsheets. Best scent. Trees were dropping too many yellow missiles in the morning when sun was toasting everything. Less drops in afternoon, so laundry went online!
