Gave away a couple bags of candy. It was a slow start, but a few groups of teenagers showed up near the end.
Alas, I discovered mouse activity in my basement. Damnit. I don't know how they are getting into the space. I thought I had blocked their route last year. Sigh, going to have to go through with all the traps, again. Hope that it might be a lone intruder or two and that there isn't a significant hole somewhere.
My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

Good Morning,
As I shared yesterday we did not hand out candy but to be honest, our living room is in the front of our house and I did not hear any noise outside, so not sure if many kids even came through.
This morning has been a bit of a slow start, got up, had some tea, took a shower and am having something to eat. I was going to clean the bathroom but decided I should eat first or before I knew it I would skip breakfast. I do not know what it has been this week but almost everyday I have had to remind myself to have breakfast.
I kind of feel like right now, now that they have announced they gave my position to someone else, I am trying to find my new normal. Since the announcement went out I have had a lot of questions about what this means for me and honestly, I do not know and am just taking it day by day. My plan for yesterday was to try to come up with some project I could work on, mainly to try to excite myself about this change instead of dreading it but it turned into a busy day and I didn't get it done.
I also want to make sure during this time I take care of me. I know my easy go to, is to throw myself into something so I don't think about it but like I said this week I have had to remind myself to eat and I see my water intake has gone down (that might be the cooler weather), but I just want to make sure I take care of me during this time.
I need to work on a meal plan and prep list for this week, I started a prep list last night but I am struggling with Dinner ideas, I am back into that "dinner again" mindset. But I am also seeing I just keep rotating the same meals so need to bring in some variety this week. I tried going on Pinterest this morning but the recipes weren't jumping out at me and I found myself looking at Crochet patterns instead.
Time to get some stuff done, Happy Saturday Everyone.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,
follow along as tackle day to day life and whatever else 2021 throws at me:

holy cow! @coupon girl I would consider 54 kids a stampede here. Years ago we had plenty but it has dwindled right down
to zero. A couple of factors come into play imo. Our house is right near the end and many Trick or Treaters don't hit the
ones down my end UNLESS there is some huge decor enticing them to.
Plus low birth rates maybe? ha ha It was always a hoot when my 3 were of the age, but things change.
There were 2-3 years where I had so many stuffed hand made bags leftover. What a total waste! Took many of them to give
to coworkers because the temptation was awful having them here.
@SassyAshley that doom and gloom wrt dinner menus is felt often here too. We have favourites BUT how many times do I
repeat those dishes before the guys say " what else ya got ? " ha ha This might be why I invite NEW recipes from Canadian
Living or other sites.
This morning I was a very busy beaver! Made ( at DS request! ) the Thanksgiving side dish that he loved. Two spaghetti squash
hollowed out and then restuffed. Such a delicious mixture goes back into them, topped with grated Mozz to melt down.

After a short nap I went back up and processed a ton of frozen fruit through my Yonanas machine. I filled four sandwich sized bags
of the creamy mixture, zipped up and placed them into another air tight storage container and into the deep freeze. That yield gave
me 16 x 3/4 cup servings.
Tbh, I could eat a double portion as they are so good. I used bananas, honeydew, strawberries, pineapple and peaches. Stirred and
mixed it all into one huge bowl, then divided up the portions. Nothing else added to it.Last edited by walkonby; Sat, Nov 1st, 2025 at 03:23 PM.
