Okay so it has been raining for eternity on the west coast and yesterday the Sun came out - So today I OD'd on Sunshine!!!
I look like a cross between a tomato and a lobster!! And of course its completely self inflicted!! I rubbed SPF 4 OIL (yes I'm a moron) on myself for the entire FIVE hours we were at the beach today!!!
I rubbed SPF 60 on my kids all day and they are white as ghosts so why would I not do the same for myself - who knows lol
But the best part is my DH did the same thing with the oil and he looks great (almost too good hint hint) He has a lovely brown glow to his skin and is currently laughing at me - just had to share my misery lol. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Oh you poor thing
.Take a cool bath and moisturize, then a dose of ibuprofen to keep the pain and swelling down.Oh and drink lots of fluids! Thank goodness your kids aren't burnt or you would have their misery to contend with in addition to your own.

Aw, that's too bad... hope you don't blister! Use some vinegar to cool it down, and aloe vera gel is very soothing.
So glad you looked after your children, though!

you'll stink but vinegar or milk calms it down and polysporin will also help for the burn and tons of aloe (if you can get the real stuff even better) is awesome for the healing as well as the awww factor.

Oh Kimmi, I feel so bad for you. Burning can be so painful. My dh can burn within 1/2 hour in the sun if not doused in spf 60. Me, I'm the total opposite, I don't remember ever having a burn. I tan so easily.
Sunscreen is so important for all of us. All to often we make sure the kids are coated in it, and forget about ourselves. We want that nice tanned look so think that if we use nothing, or an oil we will get there. Sunscreen is just as important for us as it is for the little ones.
Aloe should help you and hopefully prevent a lot of peeling skin. I sure hope you feel better real soon.We all need a little sunshine every now and then

Owwwiiieeee, Hope you feel better soon, I remember my last real burn. I was trying to be helpful and help the DH reshingle the house 5 years ago, and we both burned so bad that it hurt to feel his breath on my poor burned shoulders at night. I slept on my stomach with no blankets or sheets for about a week, used all 4 of my big aloe plants, and I peeled like our lizard's when they shed out.

oh you silly billy... but i've been there before, blisters and all
can't give you any advice that wasn't given already, just my sympathy.. i've finally learned my lesson after all my years of burning, i sunscreen myself before i go out.. i buy the neutrogena spray for myself so i can get my back easily.. the kids get 60 spf and despite that they are still managing to get a suntan.. no burns though
hope you feel better soon

Dang, that really sucks. I don't ever venture out of the house without the highest sun protection I can get. DH makes fun of me but I'm laughing when he's burnt. Hope you feel better soon Kimmi
