I'd like to ask some tattoo etiquette. If I'm near a person who is showing tattoos is it polite to look/stare at the tattoos in order to figure out what they are or to appreciate them? I always feel like I'm invading people's privace but then, if they didn't want people to look, why did they get it in a "public" part of their body. Do people get offended if I ask them about their tattoos? (I know that's probably varied depending upon the person.)

The majority of people would be happy to tell you about their tatts. For most people, there is a reason, or a meaning behind the tatt. I have seen some beautiful tatt's, and yes have even asked the odd person about them. I don't get offended when someone asks me to see mine, although mine is 28 years old and faded now. People are often interested as to why I would get a pig, . You see, for many years I lived on a farm and we raised pigs. I think they are the cutest things going (the babies of coarse)! I often think about getting it recoloured, but never do.



Sally, that looks like a new one. How long have you had it? It's beautiful, the meaning?

lol people stare at me all the time but only in the summer LOL my ink is mostly upper body they stay covered up all through fall and winter

Reminds me of cleavage. Looking at cleavage is like looking at the sun. You don't stare at it, it's too risky. You get a sense of it then you look away.

That's real nice Not a lot of tattooists can do nice flowers, IMHO. It'd be cute with some color shading in them..

nice tattoos.. i know quite a few people that have them two of them that I know of in my own family Dad, sister. I would love to get a simple heart, probably just an outline somewhere on my body just not sure, ankle, wrist maybe. nothing bigger than a quarter. I was thinking of taking my first initial and my hubbies initial and making a heart from it. the outline anyway and then having my sons initials inside.
many say once you get one tattoo it becomes an addiction.. don't think i've ever do that. i just want one. once i get it it will be a reward for my hard work of weight loss, so hoping by next summer. i wanted to have it done for my 40th but that came and went. oh well. on to plan #2.

I get asked all the time about my tattoo. I hate saying it because it doesn't make ME feel awkward, but it makes the other people feel awkward, the story behind it.
