Where to buy empty herb/spice container sets

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right section to post this...I am looking for a gift for someone who is really into buying various dried herbs/flowers/roots, etc. in bulk and making teas, usually getting them in little bags from the store and storing in a little herb/spice sealed jar. I would like to buy a set of these little jars. They need to be glass, look nice, have a good quality top that seals, and come empty (I'm seeing spice sets with spices in jars). Maybe someone else has this hobby, I wonder where they get their little jars from? I don't want the ikea ones, or the canadian tire ones that are magnetic. Kitchen stuff plus has a nice set, but kinda pricy, and only 4 in a set.

I use the fancier canning jars for mine, they are pretty cheap for cases of 12 at most grocery stores, and you can buy the smaller sized ones to use.

I use the jars because it's much easier to fit a measuring spoon into whatever spice I need at the time and not waste any trying to pour it. I think Walmart sells the Amici spice jars, but I'm not certain of the price.

whatever you do, don't buy them at the Bulk Barn! I bought a bunch of their empty spice containers, nice glass ones with silver lids.
they might look nice, but they defiantely don't have a nice tight seal. All the spices I bought and put in their containers dried out and became solid chunks!

I bought new ones at Wal-Mart, they had simple glass ones with white lids 6 pack for $4 with stickers!

Its sort of hit and miss but Thrift stores have a plethora of items to choose from and their inventory is always changing + you can't beat the prices.

I bought a few nice ones at our dollar store (not sure what it's called, everything isn't $1)...glass with black screwtops that lift up for pouring or shaking...they work very well.

walmart for sets, thrift stores for sets of of empty ones, as well as the dollar store. if they make alot then I'd go with the mason jars. you can also pick them up at garage sales, thrift stores even check on kijiji in your area. some folks are into canning and then once they are 'done' they sell their stuff for cheap.

Do you have a Solutions store in your area? If you do, it is a great place to buy a variety of containers.

i would suggest that jam jars (for home canning) would be perfect if you could find a little rack to put them in. I always loved the way my Grandma would line up her home-canned jam in her glass-fronted pantry cupboard - she would have all the jars neatly arranged, hand-written labels on them, and sometimes little pieces of cloth between the sealed lid and the canning ring for decoration. I was mesmerized by them as a kid

Now, this is kind of what Michael Smith does if you've ever watched "Chef at Home" on the food channel - endless mason jars line his pantry and I always think they look so inviting! - and yes, I do watch too much tv

This is a great site for bottles and jars of all types. It is US but they are very reasonable but I don't think you would get them in time. I ordered 200 for my daughters wedding.We made home-made jam for the guest favours with labels that said "Spread the Love". I was really happy with the prices and the delivery.
