Yeah maybe it is their responsability for the price checking...but if you know the price is wrong and return and return to benefite...that's wrong...you have to say they make an error and they have to change it...if they dont...its not the same story..

And Sale + Coupons for having a free product to me = the best mix and HONNEST ONE

I work at RCSS and have seen it done. I had one customer do the exact same thing, SCOP at one till and then come to mine to do another SCOP. I actually had to stop a customer and say that I would not SCOP the product but give it to her at shelf price. She was not happy and walked away.

In Quebec, SCOP is a law from the OPC (Office de la protection du consommateur). It's not an option.

The same way a driver need to buckle is belt. So if I got a SCOP and on the next day, the error is still there, I have no problem to get another SCOP. Will a police officer not arrest me if I don't buckle up because I already receive a ticket for it the day before? Hell no! I'm pretty sure the goverment is also happy to receive the money for both tickets. So if I have to respect the law, why a store shouldn't? And why should I be ashame to do it.

I'm at 26 SCOP on all kind of thing (clothing, food, toilet paper...) this year and I'm proud of it.

Oh and by the way, I have worked in retail for 15 years.

SCOP is there so that stores do not take advantage of customers. It seems to me to be reasonable to expect that customers will not take advantage of the stores. While I have asked for a SCOP on a couple of occasions, I don't personally think it is appropriate for customers to "work the system".

    For all those who believe an immediate change is possible, here was my SCOP from yesterday;
RCSS has Ruffles Family Size on for 2 for $6, in flyer and on the shelf. They scanned in at $4.29(4.49?) each, and no discount when the order was totaled.
How should/could that be fixed on the spot? That is a computer issue that needs to be adjusted, not just signage.
I agree, if its signage, go change it asap, but if its in the computers that way, I do believe there are more levels it has to go to in order to be fixed.

Everybody has a difference of their opinion but to me it seems no different than buying a product, going to your car, clipping the coupon, returning to buy product again and again.
No complaints from me as I am not the coupon police and you do what feels right to you.

I've only had scop about 6 times. 2 were on the same product, I went to use my coupon and it scanned up wrong, so i got scop, then the next day same thing. they didn't change the sign.

My problem is when ppl use fpc and then return the item for cash. i think that is wrong. And people do it all the time in our store.

Normally when this happens for me (only once so far) I pay then go to the CS desk. They check the receipt then do the necessary refund and exchange for the correct price and then they are notified so as far as I am concerned they can go into the system and change it right away keeping in mind if they know how to do it and/or are allowed. This type of thing is different IMO, while it may not be able to be changed right away it should be changed by the following day when the open.

If there is a pricing error in the system and there is not a manager or person with authority available to make the changes in the system, the supervisor in charge should be making all cashiers aware of the problem in the system and then when it happens they can do a price adjustment when it is scanned. If there are so many pricing errors in the system that the cashiers are not able to manage this, then someone should be called in to fix the mistakes.

I guess I have a different take on SCOP. I believe that customers have the right to be charged the price displayed and it is up to the store to make sure the prices are right. If they are not doing this there should be a consequence for the store. Having to give the customer up to $10 off the product is not alot when you consider how many people likely bought the item thinking it was the shelf price and got ripped off and likely didn't even notice.

The store needs to take action when the issue is brought to their attention and if they don't then they deserve what they get if it is someone getting more than one of an item under SCOP. If it was a different industry the consequences of this kind of misleading advertisement would be a fine and cost them far more than $10 per incident. There is no reason for them not to take action, they are just being lazy. Take the sign down, not rocket science. If you can't do that then post a notice.

I know one time a store had the wrong price up for about 6 weeks so once a week, when I was in the store, I got one. I see no problem with that because there was no excuse for leaving it like that and all the customers that got the wrong price for 6 WEEKS before they fixed it.

Some stores take this issue lightly because it is only voluntary. In the US it is law as well as in Quebec. I think it should be law across Canada.

Good post, kerrylj. I agree that if a store has the wrong price up for 6 weeks then a SCOP once a week like you have done is not inappropriate. I think that what people object to is SCOPing every variety in a bin or running in and out of the store over the period of a few minutes before the store has a chance to correct the error. There is an SDM in my area that often has the wrong price posted on the shelf....and it lasts for days. There is no excuse for that.
