I went mattress shopping with my husband this week. We now sleep in a double bed, with our cat, which is unbearable. We decided to go for a king size bed with a maximum budget of 2000$.
We go to the first store knowing that they may possibly have the exactly mattress that we own in King. We test it out, seems good, we're ready to buy. We look around, no sales clerk.
After fifteen minutes, a guy suddenly appears and so my husband goes up to him to ask him some questions. The guy interrupts my husband and starts giving this huge analogy about how he shouldn't let his wife "twist his finger" and that the men should have a say in what mattress they sleep on. Basically telling him not to let me boss him around?!? I don't know. Then the clerk proceeds to "perform" this analogy by reaching for my husbands hand to grab his finger. My husband asks him not to touch him, 3 TIMES before he complies. He then demonstrates to us on his own hand what he had planned to do to my husband which was to basically stretch his middle finger backwards towards to top part of the wrist. OW.
We tell the clerk we no longer need his help and we'll just look around. While lying on another mattress, the same clerk, from the opposite side of the store screams, IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS, "now you two, theres no having sex in the store! hahahahahaha"
Sure, I may look young. But I'm married, and serious about spending 2000$ in the store. That joke isn't appropriate for anyone. We were so offended that we immediately got up and left. He chased us out the door "ooohh no don't leave! We have the best prices! We'll find what you need!!"
We ignored him, and spent 2000$ elsewhere.
I'm still shocked. This thread is currently associated with: N/AMust have a U.S. itunes account to choose a free product on Poshmark: New Accounts Only:

There's a store clerk in need of boundary training and a review of selling techniques. Yes, that was inappropriate behaviour-congratulate your spouse for refraining from rearranging the clerk's jaw from the first touch or even the first spiel. $2K lost!
Send a thank you note to the other store where you spent the money and say you'll refer people there.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Wow!! I'm glad you took your money elsewhere. You should call the manager and explain how they just lost a very sizable sale...

How inappropriate! I'm glad that you took your business elsewhere. I would probably phone the company and tell them about your experience. I would imagine that they'll be going out of business if they keep it up.

Wow, that was really uncalled for!! I am glad that you took your money elsewhere. I would seriously call the manager and complain and also mention that b/c of the inappropriate employee you took your business elsewhere.

Now, that's just icky! Glad you went elsewhere.
BTW, what brand/kind did you buy?
We're in a double, too, and I like it - lots of snuggling whether one of us likes to or not, lol!

That was absolutely unacceptable behavior from the staff in that mattress store. I would have been mortified had that happened to me.
I wish we had bought a king size rather than the (expensive) Queen-size one we purchased. The addition of a dog to our family has made the Queen-size too small.

I would have contacted the manager or store owner IMMEDIATELY. They need to know about that. That's disgusting.

Wow, talk to the manager! That's terrible. If he said that to you. What's he saying to others.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

I called the head office and they called me back saying they had reprimanded the employee. I asked if there would be any sort of compensation for the experience and they offered me a 40$ sheet set for free with my mattress purchase...... Not so much of an incentive!!!
I ended up buying my mattress at leons. The staff there are incredible. I made sure to fill out the evaluation form to talk about how well we were treated. I bought a Simmons beauty rest. In all the stores, the Simmons beauty rest mattresses were the most comfortable, and leons had the best prices! The mode, I ordered is called kipling. It is a leons exclusive. I suggest checking it out!!!!Must have a U.S. itunes account to choose a free product on Poshmark: New Accounts Only:

I would have run out of that store too.
FYI, in my experience, EVERY store has an 'exclusive.' I strongly suspect that many of them have identical mattresses, but with different names so that you can't price match anyone. And every store is '40% off' or something similar.

Gee was it Dormez-Vous by any chance, I went there to buy a matress once and the clerk was a real a-hole too. We walked out.

Um wow, what crap compensation. I'd have asked them if they seriously thought I was going to drop a couple grand in their store after being HARASSED like that by the employee, just for the free sheet set they should have just given you out of pure shame.
