With back to school on Tuesday, I thought about some students going back hungry. Some don’t want to be a part of the school breakfast programs in Ontario, especially when they are in high school.

So today at Metro, we got:

15 x Selections oatmeal – maple and brown sugar, $1.99 each


Out of Pocket = $31.00

Regular Air Miles = 1

Bonus Air Miles = 60 (20 bonus Air Miles when you buy 5 x Selection products)


Salvation Army donation box is right by the store exit and makes donating really easy.

Brilliant idea. My older son has a breakfast program and they encourage
everyone to have breakfast at school. Then none of the kids stand out as it is the thing to do. We love it as he has a very early bus time so this way I know he has a chance to eat. I make sure to send a cheque along to support the program. They also do a healthy basket so the kids can have snacks during the day. And we support that with snacks so I will checking out the peanut free selections snaks to get this bonus AM deal.

Yes. You are right. The July challenge was $10.
I have met some of these teens, so I know what they want -- hahaha, they told me.
They like the idea of going to a friendly, neighbourhood food bank and choosing for themselves, rather than their friends see them at the breakfast program at school. I think they feel more independent when they get to choose for themselves.
