What is the story behind one of your scars?
I have a scar just above my eye from where I fell into a box as a toddler... it's the most noticeable one

Making plans is useless.

Yes, for having the highest GPA in the school when I was in grade 10 (yes, I'm a nerd!)

What subject do you wish you had paid more attention to in school?
I wish I had continued my studies in math and science beyond the post-secondary level... I really enjoyed those subjects and wish I had more time to spend learning them

I would drink with John A. Macdonald; I hear he liked a good wild party

What is your favorite thing about your mom?
That she always challenges me to grow in new ways.

My parents never punished me harshly...

A guy named Dan who was my shift manager at a croissant factory. He was always able to make me laugh, even at 3am when my hands were numb and my back and feet were aching.

If you did not need the money what would you do for work?
Work at a drop-in centre for the homeless doing recreation and social activities.

LOL, my house already has this room.... It houses a motorcycle

I wouldn't have gotten married in 2001... big mistake! (that I paid for for a long, long time!)

Cinnamon reminds me of my house... I won't even go there with my Mom's place

What is the story behind one of your scars? When I was 5 I was jumping up and down near a table and fell and the edge of the table dug into my head and I have a scar that looks like a new moon.

What do you "know now" that you wish you "knew then"? That I should have tried harder and put more effort in, but also that things werent what they seemed. I wish I had known about my learning diability back then.

What smell reminds you of home? My mom's cooking. Fresh baked oatmeal cookies and bannana cake remind me of my grandparennts home that isnt around anymore. Also a sort of stuffines with a weird sweetness, Im not sure how to describe it. I smelled somehting similiar at York university once and was reminded of it.

What is the story behind one of your scars?
I have an ugly one on my right hip that I got when I was 13 and riding my bike. I was riding down an overpass on a country road and I turned onto the gravel road at the bottom of the overpass. Bottom line—I was going too fast, there was a lot of loose gravel, and the turn was too sharp to be made safely. My bike slid out from underneath me and I skidded across the gravel road on my side. The chain fell off my bike and I couldn’t get it back on so I had to walk all the way home in pain and bleeding like crazy.

The most mortifying part, however, was having to sit there in my underwear while my dad plucked the pieces of gravel out from the large gaping wound on my upper leg with tweezers. My mom was away on a trip and there was no one else to do the task. Was so embarrassed I wanted to die.

Golden Corral in the USA. Always leads to over-eating...especially that darned dessert buffet.

I’d still do what I currently do—supply teacher—because I love it.

Teacher.

If you had a time machine and you could go back and change anything, what would it be?
I would have stayed by my mom’s bedside for one hour longer so that I would have been there to hold her hand when she died.

Waitress. Not gonna lie. I was a crappy waitress and I hated having to pretend like I gave a crap about some of the customers who came in with their silly little demands. Seriously. I’ve worked in tobacco fields and I’d take THAT in the cold rain for 12 hours a day hands down over carrying a tray and asking if you’d like the soup or the salad.

John Donne. The Sun Rising. I had an in-class essay test on that one in second year university and that's why it stuck.

Pink Floyd. Yeah, a little late, I know. Maybe I could combine this question with the time machine one…go back to the mid eighties or something, camp out and see Pink Floyd.

What is the story behind one of your scars?
I was swimming the first day of summer kayaking when I was 11, and I crawled up the aluminum ladder onto the raft in the swimming area. Somehow I fell backwards and my thigh just above my knee got caught on the corner. Took a good chunk our of my leg. It healed but it's white there versus my normal skin colour.

OK, I'll answer the questions later but I figured this is my favourite thread in the Tea Room so I thought I'd post it here and it does give an idea about getting to know what I'm all about.

My wife and I are putting on a dance in support of the Victoria Prostate Centre and Movember. We're donating all the expenses for the dance and have been collecting door prizes. Because we're donating the expenses everyone is getting a full tax receipt for the ticket price ($20).

A good artist friend has been strong arming the local artists for donations. A local artist who is a prostate cancer survivor has just donated "Cathedral Mountain" and I just had to show his special gift off somewhere:

What is the story behind one of your scars? I have a scar over my eye after being pushed by a bully in school, she pushed me into a wall and my glasses broke and narrowly missed my eye.

What is the story behind one of your scars?
The palm of my left hand has a railroad track. I was working on a project that involved thin wood and an exacto knife - the knife slipped & at first I thought I could just wrap it in a towel, but it bled & bled until it soaked through & I ended up needing a number of stitches.


Have you ever won a trophy?
Yep, used to be the only girl in an all boys soccer league - won MVP

What was the worst punishment your parents ever enacted?
My Mother decided that I was a difficult teenager as we were entering the summer before I was to start high school (Honour roll student, praised up & down by teachers, always did chores at home, never got into trouble) and decided to tell me a lie which involved asking me to go to the store (walking distance) and when I returned said that we were going shopping, then instead of going to the mall, they turned onto the highway towards Toronto and decided to dump me at my father's (who had been uninvolved in my life since I was 5) and leave me in that hell hole for 6 weeks; I never forgave her and never will. The useless former drunk she was.
