It's not a good week at Safeway my theory because they know people will be buying extra stuff for office, family and friend gatherings and they know lots of people are to tired to shop around so will pay any price to get the stuff they need.

Good grief. I am still upset about how much things went up this year. For example Silhouette yogurt and cereal. 2 things we buy crazy amounts of. If they go up another 10% we will have to go with no name brands etc. It is just ridiculous. Thanks for the tip Bob. Might just have to stock up some more on the non-perishables. Its a good thing we coupon and maximize the deals.

LOL Right now I am glad I have been canning! We have all noticed a big diffence at the tills. Prices have gone up conciderably over the last 2 years. Every year we purchase 3 turkeys at thanks giving, 3 at christmas and 3 at easter because it is soooooooooooo much cheaper then chicken.
Our buy price for meat is
Lean Ground beef under $1.50 lb
Roasts pork or beef $2. lb (roasts get canned or cut into chops, steaks, stew or fajita)
Turkey .88 - .99lb
Bacon under $2 a pack
Weiners for bbq season $2 a pack and they have to not be mechanically deboned.
Ribs for the once a year I buy them under $2lb
Chicken we only buy the rotisary chickens because it is cheaper then buying a bird and cooking it yourself... so less work and less money... but we only get 1 a month or less.
Sausage at $3 to 5 a pack for a lb... are you kidding me? I am new at it but I have turned to making my own for around that $2 lb mark. I expect a t-bone for $5lb. (LOL I have not had a t-bone for years)

Did anyone receive their bonus airmiles for purchasing X amount of $ on their BMO Credit Card during November? I got my Nov Statement and my miles for my purchases but not the bonus.

first, where do you find lean ground beef for $1.50/lb! The best price I have ever seen is $1.88 I think and usually it is more like $1.99. second what weiners do you buy? I don't even know that they mention not mechanically deboned.
interesting on the other prices. My dh also makes his own sausages...paying retail price is ridiculous plus homemade is so much better
LF: kashi from websaver and 50 cents any cereal printout
FT: Mann's veg and more! Check out my tradelist/wishlist

I got my lean ground beef at Coop. They put it on sale now and then for $1.49lb. They limit one warehouse pack of it but I go through the tills several times to get what I need.
I only purchase Schnieders or Mitchell's hot dogs. If you read packs of most brands in the stores the ingredents list mechanically deboned meat.
My first attempt at sausage making was with my dad who has a excellent meat grinder. If I was making my own at home I would use a food processor... it works too. (we made brats for me and polish sausage for Dad and it all hit the smoker.... soooooo yummy!) I don't want to think about what a store would charge for this quality of sausage.
