Yes Virginia, some Americans do have brains!!
FROM THE BALTIMORE SUN:
Hunters and target shooters don't need assault rifles
December 28, 2012
The school shooting in Newtown, Conn., once again highlights the need for such sensible gun control measures as restoring the ban on assault rifles and eliminating the gun show loophole for background checks.
The key factor that distinguishes the U.S. from other countries that have far lower murder rates is not mental health or video games but the availability of guns.
Beyond those steps, however, it's time to repeal the Second Amendment. The amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
This amendment made perfect sense when it was adopted in 1791. The U.S. had no standing army, and untrained militias comprised of citizen-soldiers bearing their own muskets were considered crucial to national defense.
The next major conflict, the War of 1812, showed how inadequate such militias were in confronting trained regular troops. The U.S. has long since outlived any need for citizen militias. Our armed forces are second to none and our defense budget nearly equals those of the rest of the world combined.
Just as the 18th Amendment was repealed by the 21st Amendment after Prohibition led to an explosion of crime, the Second Amendment, whose misinterpretation has resulted in the highest murder rate in the industrialized world, must go.
Repealing the Second Amendment would not in itself ban a single gun but it would remove the legal pretext of gun ownership as an entitlement. That would open the way for us to determine when gun ownership makes sense — such as for licensed hunters and target shooters, neither of whom require semiautomatic weapons — and when it doesn't.@

Morning all.
December 29, 2012 isPepper Pot Day
Today is Pepper Pot Day! Pepper pot is a thick spicy soup first created on December 29, 1777. During the Revolutionary War, the Continental Army experienced an exceptionally harsh winter in Valley Forge. The soldiers were low on food because the farmers in the area sold all their supplies to the British Army for cash rather than the weak currency that the Continental soldiers could offer.
Christopher Ludwick, the baker general of the Continental Army, gathered whatever food he could find to feed the frail soldiers. The chef was able to find scraps of tripe, meat, and some peppercorn. He mixed the ingredients together with some other seasonings and created the hot spicy soup we now know as pepper pot. It became known as "the soup that won the war."
To celebrate this historic dish, try making your own pepper pot soup today! It’s the perfect way to warm up on a chilly December day.

Happy Caterday everyone-I have been having some very strange dreams the past few nights, dont know what the heck is going on...last night my dream involved electro shock therapy disguised as a new spa treatment, they kept trying to tell me as they were strapping me in that I will feel soo relaxed once it was all done. I woke up shaking just as the treatment was about to be administered and it seemed so real. I wont even tell you about the one involving Morgan Freeman the other night-yikes!
