OKAY!
So. I've watched Dr Ian Smith twice now, and this morning when hubby and I were watching him on tv, he asked me if I wanted him to download his new book, "SHRED" to my ipad or Kobo, and I said, yes, absolutely! So it's on my ipad now, I'm on Day 1, and will complete his 6-week cycle and see how much weight I'm going to lose.
Some gals are losing 20+lbs, 2 dress sizes...but of course it's all individual.
WW works for me, but I like to try something different now and then, and he speaks of "cycling" which has always worked for me. When we had our first little one, I went on a diet, where I dieted every day, but on Sunday I ate whatever I wanted! Yep...A&W burgers..anything and everything. Thing is, I never plateaued! I didn't know it then, but what I thought was my motivation for staying on (one cheat day a week) was actually a way to keep my metabolism in check, where my body never had to plateau, thinking it was in starvation mode! Dr Smith isn't allowing me to be quite so radical, but it just makes perfect sense to me.
So. Day 1: today! ...4 meals, 3 snacks. Can I possibly eat all that food??!!! Sure going to give it a try!

Well that would be me! Except for the "works hard at the gym" part.
So he maintains his cheat day, hm? I'm guessing they don't involve A&W like mine did? He sounds much to disciplined to do that......lol...Congrats to him on losing those 40+lbs!! Does he have more to lose? Doesn't it frost your knickers how guys lose so much more quickly than we do?

[QUOTE] He wants to lose 25 more pounds, and I want to lose at least 15, was a small woman all my life and then had my last baby at 39 and went right into mentalpause so It is way past time I did something about it.I did lose about 14 pounds with the Christmas Challenge so I just have to lose 15 more! He does do a great job of having free days on Sundays, he eats whatever he wants and it is usually very high cal!!! The only thing that he hasn't given up is our Friday night red wine!! I wish I could work out as much as he does but he has the liberty of going right after work and I leave work to pick up our son from high school and then home to start supper and the endless evening chores! I just need to mange my time more effectively and delegate more at home. Good for you for losing all that weight you should be very proud of yourself.

I cheated today. I had a pita pit garden pita, so there is the pita and the light ranch dressing.
I didn't eat it all, I gave the bottom 2inches away so I don't feel TOO badly. And for a cheat, it is not too bad. Im having a couple of rum n diet cokes too, but alcohol kills calories ( I swear! Lol) so that is bad too, but tomorrow is a new day
i just want to say that I envy every single one of you on here that is able to do this without going to extreme measures.....doing it slow but sure. No matter how much you lose, you should all be super proud of your accomplishments. I do not have that willpower....I have always been an all or nothing sort of person, so to be able to have that balance, you should all give yourselves a big pat on the shoulder!Love like crazy everyday and smile.

[QUOTE=thriftygranny;5188406]
Hon. I was surprised that on this diet I'm allowed either 3 glasses of red or white wine OR 3 lite beers per week! I may have all of 1 beer each year, so it's nice to be allowed that wine. So no worries about your Friday night treat...I'll save mine for NFL games. After that, then perhaps a Saturday night treat.He wants to lose 25 more pounds, and I want to lose at least 15, was a small woman all my life and then had my last baby at 39 and went right into mentalpause so It is way past time I did something about it.I did lose about 14 pounds with the Christmas Challenge so I just have to lose 15 more! But really, I may give it up for the next 30 days on this diet......

Is that what they recommend, Abby, or you want to try it for 3 weeks?
Whatever it takes to keep you healthy and on track, go for it! I don't see
anything weird on there...It's very similar to most diets, plus it cuts out
foods that cause allergies, or other problems for people.
Let us know how you're doing, and keep us informed!
Good luck, Hon!!!
