I am single and without a significant (or insignificant) other.....but I love Valentines Day.
I consider it like a RAOK day....I send cards to friends.....buy unexpected treats for friends....share chocolates....wear my V-Day t-shirt

I have a hot date for that night... with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate Seriously though, I probably will have a glass of wine and then go for a nice hot soak in the tub. Maybe I'll buy myself a juicy romance novel
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur... happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr

OP, some people take advantage of Valentine's Day and do some nice things for their family or friends. Some seniors with no one would love a shovelled walk, or a nice cup-a-tea and a brief chat on Valentine's Day.
I hear ya and I agree with ya about the commercialism. So, just twist it to your liking. Forget the greeting card marketers and make your own traditions -- with or without the guy.Last edited by Shwa Girl; Tue, Feb 12th, 2013 at 09:26 PM.

Oh no, I am all into having a pity party....it was funny because it was true
Mine is going to start as soon as the kids go to bed. I am going to have a bottle of wine, watch a sappy movie in my red and white PJs (either Atonement or The Notebook probably), eat some cheesecake and then probably fight with my ex because he will message me and tell me how I ruined his life or something like that because he is not happy unless he thinks I am miserable lolLove like crazy everyday and smile.

I know it can seem forced every year but I think sometimes we need to be reminded how much we mean to each other weither it is your significant other or if you are blessed with children share it with them with friends or family. It is an old celebration but why not modernise it. Decorate, make the deserts, get the wine, dress-up just have Valentines day dinner with them. Sometimes it's better to be alone than to be in a bad relationship that celebrates a phony Valentines' day.
I know I have had those holidays alone but I'd rather be alone than wishing I was.
