This is just hitting the news now. Just wild, fireballs over Russia, windows shattered, people injured by flying glass.

I wonder if this is connected with asteroid 2012 DA14. Fragments of it maybe? This thread is currently associated with: Microsoft

Check this out, footage of the blast from indoors:
No wonder there were so many injuries. A lot of people went to look out the windows to see what the flash was and got a face full of glass. Hopefully nobody was blinded.Last edited by DaveP; Fri, Feb 15th, 2013 at 07:23 AM.

Just saw much more of this on morning news coverage - gosh, that sonic boom is loud on tv, can't imagine how loud it would have been in person!
So much damage to so many buildings; over 500 reported hurt, but I wouldn't be surprized if that number goes way up.
Michael Garnett from Saskatoon is now in that city in Russia playing hockey - was interviewed on Skype this morning.
He said he was in that half-awake phase, had hit the snooze button on his alarm, but woke up to the boom very shocked, thought it was maybe a natural gas explosion, bomb, etc. Is staying on the 23rd floor of a 24 floor building, so got out right away because he thought his building was hit. He wasn't hurt.

I think this is a fragment of asteroid 2012 DA14. Too much of a coincidence for it not to be. It will be interesting to see if anything else happens in the next few days.

^ actually, apparently the chances of that are extremely slim.
doesn't line up at all with the direction it was traveling in.In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

When we had the earthquake here a few months ago the sonic boom was like something I have never heard before. Scared the crapolla out of us. lol The noise was actually scarier than the shaking that followed.
Can you imagine what a sizeable meteor could do and just think they didn't even see this one coming. The other one they have been tracking for a year but you never know eh? We could all go up in a puff of smoke in no time. lol

It's a good thing nobody freaked out and hit the button
. I imagine there may have been some interesting phone calls after the incident.
