FWIW, i_forget...i'm not a big sports fan and have the highest regard for people who put themselves in harms way for my sake.
Police, firemen, soldiers and the like I respect for thier good works. However, if one was to murder his/her loved one, then I expect that the law would be blind to thier previous actions and judge them solely on this one , albeit hideous event....
Sportsmen should be held to same standard as every-one else..gold medals not withstanding.
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

You are right, everyone should be held to the same standards.
i guess that what I believe is that people who are first responders, and the like, are givers, more humanitarians, and are more worthy of praise than sports figures and actors ( although some do humanitarian work).
it is with that false praise that many develop inflated egos and feel that they are better than others ( ie. ance Armstrong).
People are idolized for the wrong reasons.Love like crazy everyday and smile.

This morning's news said they found banned steroids in his home.
Wonder if the Olympic and Parolympic medals will be brought into question -- Like Lance Armstrong.

Take away the famous name, the money, the beautiful model and it comes down to more violence against women.
Are we hanging this guy before he even gets a fair trial. Perhaps , but 99/100 times these cases prove to be true. Sad.

Yes. The money and endorsements. Changes a person for the worse
Yes. Fair trial. But bloody cricket bat that she possibly used to defend herself + him breaking down bathroom door where she was hiding + previous girlfriend reporting domestic abuse.... It is not looking good. I too am hoping for a fair trial.

So this morning, his defense is: he thought it was a burgler/intruder, he didn't have his prosthetics on, so he felt vulnerable when he heard "someone" in the bathroom. He grabbed his gun and fired away!! Oh. After, apparently, telling her to call 911. And her NOT responding.
If we're to believe him....the intruder burst into his home and had to use the washroom before pilfering anything.
Interesting....
I wonder what side of the bed the bathroom door is located. Did he have to lean over her side to shoot (hence he'd obviously know she wasn't in bed)? I wonder if he bothered to shout at whoever was in that bathroom to come out, or identify himself..or, as was the case, herself.
I don't want to condemn him this early, but with the allegations of abuse in his past, his use of steroids, I'm guessing his rage got the best of him and something snapped.
He's off his drugs now, I presume, and can finally realize, with a clear head, exactly what happened.
Oh. And she "died in his arms"....how sweet. I wonder who said what to whom.........Last edited by Lynn49; Tue, Feb 19th, 2013 at 11:00 AM.

South Africa doesn't have a jury system - decision after trial will be made by one judge and two magistrates.

Why would she lock the door if she was just going to the bathroom? She locked the door because she was afraid IMO

On a side note about steroid rage.
My dad has asthma and when he gets a cold he must take a course of steroids or he cannot breath. Let me tell you though you do not want to be around when he is on those things. "roid" rage is REAL.

Plus, I'm sure 'off-label' use/dosages of the steroids must be stronger, don't you think?
Just an aside - I always lock the bathroom door - whether husband and/or son is home, and even if I'm alone... is that so odd?
